The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road Chapter 139 Part 2

The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road Chapter 139 – Part 2

Despite what they said, these guys were all shy.

Both Ash and Gunther were hesitating when it actually came down to it.

It seemed this was Ash’s first time hunting too. It wasn’t for nothing that he called it an expedition.

Finally, as if he had made up his mind, Ash spoke.

“W-well then, let’s try one at a time. Senior Gunther. You go first since you’re the eldest!”

“Urgh! Ash, you rascal. You only treat me as the elder at times like this!”

“If it bothers you that much, you should have been born a year later.”

“Phew! Alright. I’ll give it a try.”

Gunther swallowed hard and approached a woman passing by. His expression was completely stiff, probably from nervousness.

From the woman’s perspective, it must have been sheer terror.

“Kyaa──!”

The woman screamed and ran away.

Gunther returned looking ten years older.

Ash, feeling somewhat guilty, took out a handkerchief from his pocket.

“S-senior. Try using this handkerchief. You approach naturally by asking if she might have dropped it!”

“I see! So there was such a method!”

Gunther immediately tried this approach.

This time the woman didn’t run away, but when she confirmed that the handkerchief Gunther offered wasn’t hers, she was equally terrified.

Still, they exchanged a few words.

“Whew! I succeeded.”

Gunther, who returned, wipes the sweat from his forehead, saying he’s satisfied.

“What kind of success is this!”

Ash yells.

“Oh my. This won’t do. I’ll show you.”

Ash clears his throat and approaches a young lady who appears to be a noble.

“Excuse me, my lady?”

“Yes?”

Ash wasn’t exceptionally handsome, but he had a likable appearance.

Moreover, he was skilled in conversation and smoothly led the talk. When the woman coughed unconsciously, he seized the opportunity and said, “Oh my, you should be careful. It’s the season when Marolin flower petals are scattering. You might have caught the Marolin disease, you know?”

“Marolin disease…?”

“Don’t you know? Well, you see, in Balas, there’s this tree called Marolin…”

It’s a kind of viral pneumonia caused by the pollen from Marolin flowers that degrades between spring and summer.

‘I see, he’s leading the conversation through knowledge.’

If there was anything wrong, it was that Marolin disease only breaks out in summer, but Ash didn’t bother to mention such details.

“Oh my, I didn’t know there was such a disease. I’m from Tunkai in the north, you see.”

“Tunkai! Me too!”

Ash thought this was his chance and tried to move the location to a tea house, but the woman smiled and declined.

“I’m sorry, but I’ll have to decline. I have an appointment. Well then, see you next time.”

Ash returned and cried out, wondering what went wrong.

I answered his question.

“Your intentions were too obvious. That’s why you got that reaction.”

“What! Then why don’t you try it!”

“…Do I really have to do it too?”

“Of course!”

Well, I couldn’t back out now that we’ve come this far.

I threw off the hood that was half-covering my face and headed towards the woman Ash pointed at.

She was a noble woman with one servant.

“Excuse me, may I have a moment?”

“…Yes? Wh-what business do you have?”

“Business… I don’t have any. I just found myself stopping you before I knew it. Was I rude?”

“No! Not at all!”

I quickly assessed her background.

“You’re a new student at the Academy from Europe, aren’t you?”

“Yes, but… If I’m not mistaken… Are you perhaps Sir. Wade?”

As expected, she recognizes me.

“That’s right.”

“I knew it!”

The woman’s eyes sparkled. She quickly asked her butler to take something out. The butler took out a book from a small backpack.

The woman picked up the book with trembling hands and held it out to me.

“I-I’m a fan! Could I ask for your autograph!?”

“Ah…”

This is how it goes.

If there was one more change that occurred after Wade’s identity was revealed, it was that the fame of the novelist Platina also rose accordingly.

It was a natural progression that the sales of ‘Their Circumstances’, which I had published, skyrocketed.

Regardless of the quality of the book, it was a work written by Wade. Still, it was doing well among women, riding on my fame, whether it was an average work or not.

Well, I didn’t make money from it though. Most were unauthorized copies.

However, books with my signature are said to have tremendous value, with being premium beyond premium.

“I’ve been carrying this around, thinking I might be able to get an autograph if I ever meet Sir. Wade. Could I ask for one…?”

“Of course, I should do it.”

“Ah…! Th-thank you! I’ll treasure it!”

When I signed it and handed it over, the woman’s face became ecstatic.

Eventually, she invited me to her mansion to talk more.

After I politely declined that offer, as if waiting for the opportunity, another woman immediately approached me.

After refusing that too, two young girls who looked like commoners came to talk to me.

‘This is rather…’

I was being reverse-hunted.

I somehow managed to wrap up the situation and returned to where Ash was.

“…”

“…”

The two look at me with dead eyes.

Gunther shouts.

“Is it the face! Is the face what’s important!”

“That’s right! How can it be that women approach you when you’re not doing anything!”

Ash continues, agitated.

“It’s the same at the Academy! Cassius Lloyd and Wade, Ars Elaine! All the young ladies only talk about these two! Especially Ars! You receive such attention yet pretend not to know about the world and just ignore the ladies’ interest! You’ll be punished someday!”

“I told you I’m not interested in these things.”

“Then at least help us!”

“Alright, alright. What do you want me to do?”

“You just need to set the mood. Just the mood. Don’t take the lead!”

Saying this, Ash targeted three commoner girls passing by.

With my support, even Gunther could somewhat continue the conversation. Ash clenched his fist, saying this time he would surely succeed.

But that’s when it happened.

“…Sir. Ars?”

“What are you doing, Ash.”

A voice like a cold wind.

Estelle. And her bodyguard, Lysithea.

They were glaring at us with terrifying eyes.

I quickly took the lead while Ash was flustered.

“I said I didn’t want to, but that Ash guy over there forced me to hit on them!”

“What!?”

Ash shudders as if getting goosebumps from Estelle’s gaze.

It was a good deflection. I decided to go back with Estelle at this point.

“By the way, Estelle. Shall we stop by a clothing store on our way? I was thinking of looking at some children’s clothes. We could also buy a dress for you while we’re at it. I’ll get it as a gift.”

“Really!?”

Estelle’s mood quickly improved. It seemed her suspicions were quickly dispelled, probably because she knew I wasn’t the type to do such things in the first place.

Ash, on the other hand, was different.

“…Ash.”

“W-well, you see, Lia. This was a kind of demonstrative action…”

“No need for long explanations. Come with me right now.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Gunther froze like ice, watching Ash being dragged away and me heading to the clothing store with Estelle.

But soon he starts to tremble.

“You deceivers! You deceiving bastards! Uwoooah──!”

Such a desperate cry from Gunther could be heard from behind us.
