Dragonslayer’s Class Regression 212

Chapter 212

“So if he’s the king of fallen constellations, does that mean that warrior became the ‘Demon King’? The one who invaded Chronos?”

“The Demon King…”

Tyr pondered for a moment before speaking.

“We couldn’t tell if the being we fought was that legendary fallen god-slayer, or a different entity altogether. In the end, it was the Great Sage who sealed away the Demon King.”

“You mean the Great Sage who was the master of Jiemens Apollion, who summoned the demon race.”

“I see you heard about this from Sethon on the 99th floor.”

“Yes. But I didn’t hear all the details.”

Tyr put down his beer mug and gazed at the blazing fireplace.

Then she slowly began to speak.

“Like Sethon, I too exist here as a fixed-time spirit rather than my original form. I agreed when Chronos suggested creating a tower to train warriors in case of unforeseen events after the war.”

“It was Chronos who proposed building this tower?”

“Yes. After experiencing the demon invasion without the Hero King present, Chronos was always anxious. Worried that the balance of this physical world that he and Kaisir created together might break.”

“Bahamut said the balance broke because there were too many humans instead.”

Tyr showed a slightly surprised expression at Zeke’s words.

“Have you met Bahamut?”

Zeke slowly shook his head.

“I haven’t encountered him directly, only through records that were left behind.”

Tyr nodded and said.

“I see. Bahamut probably thought that way because he despised humans so much. Actually, Bahamut’s words were somewhat correct.”

Tyr was silent for a moment before speaking again.

“Bahamut insisted that Jiemens Apollion had to die. However, since Jiemens had stolen and placed a dragon’s heart in his body, if he died, his contracted dragon would have to die as well. Sethon, the king of Chronos, decided to imprison Jiemens in the clock tower’s underground labyrinth rather than kill him. But the clever Jiemens Apollion eventually escaped the labyrinth, and afterwards joined hands with the orcs and summoned the demon race using forbidden magic.”

Zeke understood why Reyes said they paid the price for ignoring Bahamut’s warning.

“So that’s why Sethon Drake gave up his throne and chased after Jiemens.”

“Yes, he was the one who raised Jiemens alongside the Hero King. He even recommended him as the Great Sage’s disciple. He felt responsible for Jiemens’s actions.”

Only after hearing Tyr’s words did Zeke understand Sethon’s actions in pursuing Jiemens.

‘Not only was he my lord’s adopted son, but Sethon himself had cared for Jiemens Apollion with affection, so he had no choice when Jiemens fell from grace and brought the world to the brink of destruction.’

Zeke asked Tyr.

“Did Jiemens Apollion end up summoning the Demon King as well?”

“It was more serious than that. The Demon King directly descended into his body.”

“The Demon King descended? As far as I know, only a dragon’s body should be able to withstand the Demon King’s power… Don’t tell me, he took all the dragon hearts?”

Tyr nodded.

“Yes, Jiemens Apollion not only took the dragon’s heart, but also transplanted a dragon’s body into himself using forbidden magic. Though human, he gained power equal to a dragon’s. No, because he gained power even greater than a dragon’s, he was able to accept the Demon King into his own body.”

Zeke realized something strange after hearing Tyr’s words.

‘A human with a dragon’s body and heart… Could Jiemens Apollion be the origin of the dragon kin?’

The only proper dragon kin Zeke had seen was Hoshgar Nirvana.

She said that dragon kin were a loophole. A loophole created by dragons who wanted to stay with their contractors longer.

‘If the dragons saw that and created a method, it makes sense. If they split the contractor and dragon’s heart between them to deceive the law of karma and created dragon kin…’

Tyr continued.

“The reason I knew the relic you showed me earlier was made of adamantium was actually because of the final battle we fought against Jiemens Apollion after he became the Demon King.”

“What do you mean?”

“The Great Sage kept the god-slaying stone hidden until the very end, and in the final battle, he brought it out and sacrificed his own soul to seal away the Demon King.”

He had heard this story before from Richmond.

About how the Sage sacrificed himself to seal the Demon King in the Book of the Dead.

While he had heard about the sealing in the Book of the Dead back then, he hadn’t heard that the Sage had used adamantium.

Moreover, through Nirvana, he had heard that Hero King Kaisir was defeated by the Demon King, and the Sage sacrificed himself to seal him away, but even Nirvana didn’t know what material the relic was made of.

Zeke looked at the Elder Dragon’s relic with fresh eyes.

‘To think it contains power that can kill constellations.’

Then Zeke suddenly remembered the dagger left behind by Anexi, the Dark Elf.

He took out the dagger and showed it to Tyr.

“Lady Tyr, is this dagger also made of adamantium?”

Tyr was surprised when she saw the dagger Zeke pulled out.

“Where did you get this?”

“I obtained it after entering this tower. It belonged to Anexi, the greatest warrior of the Black River tribe, a Dark Elf.”

Tyr let out a sigh after hearing Zeke’s words.

“Anexi. I remember her. Though she was tragically sacrificed after being deceived by Jiemens’s false propaganda, I remember her as a strong and beautiful warrior.”

She examined the dagger and nodded.

“This appears to be adamantium as well. However, unlike the Elder Dragon’s relic, this dagger seems to be dead.”

“The dagger is dead?”

“Yes. It’s hard to explain in words… but I can’t feel any ‘energy’ from this dagger.”

“Energy…”

Zeke suddenly thought of something.

‘Perhaps I could see it through the Spirit Eye?’

He took out Shambhala’s Third Eye from his inventory and asked Tyr.

“Do you know what this is?”

Tyr showed curious eyes upon seeing Shambhala’s necklace that Zeke pulled out.

“What’s that?”

“This is also an artifact I obtained from the tower.”

“Huh, to think such things were in the tower. Chronos put in all sorts of things. Well, even I’ve never seen something like that before.”

Zeke asked Tyr’s permission before putting on Shambhala’s necklace to test it.

Then he looked at the dagger and Elder Dragon’s relic again.

When he activated the skill, surprisingly, light rose from Zeke’s forehead.

[Awakening the Third Eye, Spirit Eye]

Simultaneously, things that were invisible to Zeke’s eyes became visible.

Surprised for a moment, he looked at Tyr, and instantly could sense that she was a being made of a spiritform without physical substance.

‘So this is what the Eye of Truth is.’

Zeke turned his gaze from Tyr to look at the Elder Dragon’s relic and Anexi’s dagger.

As Tyr said, there was a faint energy swirling like a heat haze around the Elder Dragon’s relic, but Anexi’s dagger had none of that.

‘Is that heat haze the power of god-slaying?’

In truth, even without the god-slaying power, the dagger’s value was sufficient just for having the indestructible property.

Zeke closed the Spirit Eye ability.

The spiritualized Tyr seemed to have instinctively detected the difference in energy between the dagger and relic.

Tyr looked at Zeke and said.

“You have many interesting abilities for someone who isn’t a dragon’s contractor. The druids of the forest would have liked you.”

Zeke felt it was time to tell Tyr his real purpose for coming here.

“Lady Tyr, I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?”

This time Zeke took out the Holy Grail, a holy relic, from his inventory.

Tyr’s eyebrows twitched upon seeing the Holy Grail.

“…Do you know what that cup is while possessing it?”

“I know it’s one of the holy relics bestowed by the Fairy King.”

Tyr’s expression hardened.

She looked at Zeke and said.

“Zeke Drake, what is your purpose for coming here?”

Zeke spoke in a calm voice.

“The shield that you possessed, Lady Tyr. Could that be one of the Fairy King’s holy relics?”

Tyr was silent for a while at his question.

Then she slowly opened her mouth.

“Holy relics. Zeke Drake. Why are you searching for the holy relics?”

Zeke took something out from his chest.

It was Chronos’s watch, an heirloom of Laura Agamemnon.

Tyr was startled when she saw Chronos’s watch.

She seemed to know what it was.

“You know what this is.”

Tyr nodded with a stern expression.

“The watch where Chronos stored his authority… He left it with Sethon when he departed from the physical world.”

Zeke said to Tyr.

“Lady Tyr, after your era – the era of the Hero King – there was one more invasion by the Demon King’s army. We call it the Liberation War. This physical world barely escaped destruction through the sacrifice of Bahamut, the Ruler of Sunset.”

“Bahamut sacrificed himself?”

Tyr clenched her teeth at Zeke’s words.

Zeke continued.

“The problem is that the prophecy of destruction isn’t over yet. Despite the sacrifices of the Great Sage and Bahamut, the Demon King is waiting for his resurrection under the name of ‘King in Yellow’, and a group called ‘The Abyss’ is disturbing the world by summoning beings from the demon realm using the sealed Lion’s Book.”

Tyr made an expression of disbelief.

Zeke spoke while looking at him.

“To prevent the prophecy of destruction, we need all three sacred relics that the Fairy King gave to humans. We found the first sacred relic, the Holy Grail, and I came here looking for Lady Tyr’s shield, which is believed to be the second sacred relic.”

Tyr remained silent, lost in confusion.

After a long while, she spoke again.

“Why did you think my shield was a sacred relic?”

“It was a conclusion drawn from combining various passed-down legends. According to records, Lady Tyr, who received the shield from the Fairy King, was a brave knight with an indomitable will and was recorded to have immortal power. Since another hero who possessed the Holy Grail had similar legends, I made that assumption.”

Tyr made a complicated expression before nodding her head.

“Well, to begin with, it’s true that I have a sacred relic.”

Zeke inwardly rejoiced at Tyr’s words.

‘The Hermit of Stories’ guess was right.’

Although he hadn’t known that the Trial of Struggle was created by Chronos along with the Elder Dragons and Dragon Lords, and that Tyr’s spirit resided within it, in the end, it was correct that the sacred relic was with the House of Tourn.

Tyr looked at Zeke and said.

“But what I have isn’t a shield.”

Zeke was surprised at those words.

“If it’s not a shield… then the legend about the immortal shield must be wrong too.”

Tyr tilted his head in confusion.

“No, I don’t even understand how such a legend came to be. I’ve never fought with a shield.”

She slowly rose from her seat.

Then she drew the sword that was hanging at her waist.

Since Tyr hadn’t used her sword once during the earlier battle, Zeke asked with a puzzled expression.

“Do you use a sword as well?”

Tyr shook her head.

“I don’t use swords. The sacred relic isn’t the sword.”

She handed Zeke not the sword, but the scabbard.

“Don’t tell me the scabbard is the sacred relic?”

Tyr nodded.

“Yes. To be precise, it’s the magic placed on that scabbard that’s the sacred relic.”

“What? Magic?”

Tyr answered slowly while looking at the scabbard.

“It’s a bit complicated to explain. Actually, what the Fairy King first gave to humans was a stone containing the authority to communicate with him.”

“A stone that could communicate with the Fairy King?”

“Yes. It was specially given by the Fairy King who cherished humans. But humans abused that stone too much. Because of that, the Fairy King stopped responding to their calls at some point.”

Zeke recalled the ‘Fairy King’s Tear’ he had received as a reward before.

‘It was definitely an item that could summon the Fairy King.’

He remembered that Kaisir was quite reluctant, saying that the Fairy King’s intervention in the material world itself was a sign of crisis.

‘Still, got to use it when things get desperate.’

For now, he decided to keep it as a last resort.

Tyr continued her explanation.

“Though the stone stopped working, the Fairy King’s power still remained. That stone eventually made its way to Kaisir, and the Great Sage transferred the remaining power from the stone to the scabbard to be used in a different way.”

“How exactly?”

“I don’t quite understand the principle, but according to the Sage, it temporarily turns the scabbard’s owner into a being of the spirit realm rather than the material world, making all physical attacks ineffective.”

“All physical attacks become ineffective?”

Zeke’s jaw dropped upon hearing Tyr’s explanation.
