And his laughter was almost enchanting—it stunned her.
When Song Chi snapped back to reality, she realized the tie she had tied wasn’t “unique”, it was downright ugly!
“Sorry, let me redo it…”
“I’m running late for work. I’ll take care of it myself.”
With that, he turned to leave.
“Sir, I…”
Song Chi hurried after him but unexpectedly tripped, her whole body was falling forward without warning.
If she fell hard, the baby might not survive!
Her pupils dilated. “Ah…”
“Song Chi, watch out!”
Mu Yin, who had already walked far away, rushed back upon hearing her scream. He caught her in his arms just in time, feeling the softness and fragrance of her body.
Song Chi fell into a warm and broad chest, and for a moment, she felt incredibly safe.
They were holding each other in an intimate position… And when Song Chi looked up, Mu Yin happened to lower his head to look at her. The distance between them shrank once again.

For a moment, their eyes locked, and both their hearts skipped a beat.
After a pause, Mu Yin was the first to regain composure.
“Are you okay?”
Song Chi shook her head, stood up, and distanced herself from him. Only then did she realize how intimate their position had just been, and her face flushed crimson.
Her shy expression resembled a rosebud about to bloom. Mu Yin’s gaze darkened slightly, and he swallowed hard.
Suppressing his emotions, he said:
“Song Chi, you don’t need to see me off. Be careful walking from now on, I don’t want anything to happen to you or the baby. Get some rest. I’m heading to work.”
Song Chi nodded guiltily, feeling remorseful.
After Mu Yin left, she was alone at home, feeling a bit lonely.
She gently touched her cheeks, recalling the scene from just now. It was like a newlywed couple being all lovey-dovey… Her face turned red again.
‘Sir said he wouldn’t like me. That was just an accident. Don’t overthink it…’
She forced herself to bury that flutter in her heart and began cleaning the house. After tidying every corner, she realized something odd.
There was barely anything of his in the master or guest bedroom, or even the bathroom. With a suspicious look, she muttered,
“This house is too new… Even his clothes are only the one set he’s wearing, and the toothbrush is disposable. Is this really his house? Could he have a secret identity?”
“He said he just bought this place. Maybe he hasn’t had time to move in yet. How can I doubt him like that…”
“He gave me this place to stay and even handed me his bank card. And I’m here suspecting his intentions. That’s not fair…”
Feeling she had overthought things, she dismissed her doubts.
Meanwhile, Mu Yin parked his ordinary car not far from the neighborhood. In a nearby corner, a luxury car had been waiting.
When he approached, his assistant Ye Xiu greeted him respectfully, “President Mu.”
Mu Yin nodded, got in, and handed over a photo of Song Chi. Ye Xiu was surprised.
“President Mu, this is…”
“My wife,” Mu Yin replied.
Ye Xiu was stunned—his boss, single for 30 years, finally got married!
“Assign someone to protect her discreetly. If anything happens, report to me immediately.”
“Yes, sir! I’ll handle it right away!”
Even if Mu Yin didn’t love Song Chi, they were married now. Knowing her family wouldn’t back down easily, it was his duty as her husband to protect her.

Around 3 p.m., Song Chi met with her aunt at a café.
They sat together, chatting. Song Yulan inquired about her new husband, and Song Chi answered honestly.
After hearing her, Song Yulan became alert.
“Xiao Chi, his house and car are under mortgage? Did he ask you to help with the payments?”
“No.”
“That’s good. Xiao Chi, you need to stay vigilant. If he does ask, make sure your name is on the house. And if he didn’t ask you to help with the down payment but is willing to put your name on the deed, that’s even better.”
Song Chi: “….”
She knew her aunt meant well, but she didn’t agree.
“Auntie, that house is something he worked hard for. I didn’t contribute money or effort—I can’t take it for free. I won’t ask him to add my name.”
“Besides, he’s already given me his salary to manage. I don’t have any secret stash, and I don’t need to hide anything from him…”
She remembered Mu Yin saying that relationships were mutual. If he treated her well and she responded with suspicion and schemes, wouldn’t that be like the fable of the farmer and the snake?
“What? You just got married and he gave you his salary card?”
“Mm-hmm, he gave it to me willingly.”
“That’s great, Xiao Chi. You’ve found a good man. I’m relieved…”
Song Chi smiled softly.
“Auntie, no matter how good he is to me, it could just be temporary. No one can guarantee he’ll be like this forever. Happiness isn’t something others can give you, you have to take control of it yourself…”
As she said this, her face lit up, radiant and full of determination.
“That’s why I want to set up a stall to earn my own money. No matter how much I make, it’ll be my own, and I’ll spend it proudly without needing to rely on anyone.”
