Chapter 19: Crisis–He Saves Her Amid Danger
Song Chi was busy and happy working at her stall.
Tang Xin, while helping, grumbled between tasks.
“Song Chi, this is so strange. Even on holidays it’s never this crowded on this street. Why are there suddenly so many people? I’m getting run ragged tonight!”
Song Chi had no idea that the foot traffic had been arranged by Mu Yin.
She laughed, “If you still have the time to complain, clearly you’re not busy enough!”
Tang Xin was just about to reply when suddenly, six burly men strode straight toward Song Chi’s stall.
The scar-faced leader barked arrogantly, “Everyone, get the hell out of the way!”
Their aggressive demeanor frightened away all the nearby customers.
Their eyes locked onto Song Chi.
She instantly sensed they were up to no good—and more importantly, that they were after her.
With a calm face, she asked, “Can I help you?”
“You bullied our friend, didn’t you?”
Song Chi frowned in confusion. “Your friend? Who would that be?”
At that moment, a flashy, overly made-up woman strutted toward the stall.
She sneered arrogantly, “Me! You little b****! I’m the famous influencer Li-jie, and you had the nerve to embarrass me! Everyone, give her a lesson!”
Song Chi instantly recalled: This Li-jie was the woman who had tried to seduce her man before!
She sneered, “Delusional.”
She ignored them and took out her phone to call the police.
Li-jie raged, “Heh, still playing high and mighty even at death’s door? Smash her face! Anyone who dares to steal my man deserves to die!”
At her command, the scar-faced man raised his hand, ready to slap Song Chi.
But she narrowed her eyes and glared coldly at him. “I dare you.”
Despite her youthful face, she emanated a powerful aura that made the man hesitate.
Her glare alone froze him in place.
Li-jie screamed, “B****, quit acting tough! What are you waiting for? Rip her apart!”
Song Chi’s eyes stayed cold—in her view, these people were nothing more than ridiculous clowns. She had already dialed the police.
Tang Xin quickly stepped forward, shielding Song Chi.
“Song Chi, be careful!”
She then picked up a stool and hurled it at the attackers.
“Back off! What kind of man bullies a woman? Some influencer you are, trying to steal someone else’s husband and still acting like you’re in the right? Shameless!”
The chaos immediately drew the attention of bystanders. Some started recording, others murmured among themselves.
Li-jie shrieked, “F***! You dare hit me? Smash their stall! Tear their faces apart!”
The men obeyed and began wrecking the booth. The delicate handmade jewelry scattered and was crushed under their feet—the scar-faced man even stomped them to pieces.
Song Chi had just finished calling the police. When she saw her work destroyed, her lungs nearly burst with rage.
Each piece was like her child.
To see them so brutally ruined… how could she not be furious?!
With fire in her eyes, she stormed forward.
Tang Xin was terrified and tried to hold her back. “Song Chi, don’t!”
But the scar-faced man swaggered forward and leered, “If you give yourself to me, maybe I’ll consider letting you—”
Smack!
Before he could finish, Song Chi slapped him hard across the face, his flesh rippling from the impact.
“That was for stomping on my jewelry. You deserved it!”
Then, smack!, another harsh slap landed.
“That one was for your filthy mouth. Also deserved!”
The scar-faced man stood dumbfounded, both cheeks now marked with five distinct red finger marks.
He couldn’t believe he’d been slapped, twice, by this petite woman.
“You b*t**! You dare hit me?!” he roared.
Song Chi raised her hand again, smack!, another slap across his cheek.
“I’ll hit you whenever I want. Need me to schedule it?”
Furious, the man raised his hand to strike her.
Song Chi instinctively shielded her belly and prepared to counter.
But before the blow could land, a hand clamped tightly around the man’s wrist.
Mu Yin’s icy voice rang out like shards of glass:
“Lay a finger on her? You’re dead.”
Song Chi turned and saw Mu Yin gripping the man’s wrist, his aura exuding pure menace.
“Sir…” she murmured. When did he get here?
He pulled her behind him protectively and twisted the thug’s wrist—*crack!—breaking it on the spot.
“Ahhh!!” the man screamed in agony.
Mu Yin followed with a brutal kick straight to the groin.
“Ahhh!!” the man collapsed, howling and rolling on the ground. Eventually, he couldn’t even scream anymore.
Song Chi: “…”
At that moment, Mu Yin looked like a perfect mix of a cold CEO and a deadly assassin, impossibly cool and incredibly reassuring.
Her heart thudded like a drum. She didn’t even realize the admiration shining in her eyes.
Mu Yin’s icy gaze swept over the others.
“Anyone else want to try?”
The remaining men all backed away, terrified.
“Li-jie… what now?” they asked nervously.
Li-jie, who had just been drooling over Mu Yin’s handsomeness, fluttered her eyelashes and purred,
“Handsome, you were so cool just now. Your wife has no body, no looks, you’re totally wasting yourself with her. Be with me instead! I’ll pay you monthly!”
Song Chi: “…”
She looked down at herself. No body? No looks? Really?
Mu Yin turned to Li-jie with a gaze cold enough to freeze hell over.
Li-jie, who had been swooning seconds ago, suddenly felt an icy chill shoot from her toes to her scalp.
Mu Yin said coldly, “I’m furious right now, but I don’t hit women.”
Then he looked at the thugs.
“You all…, come here. Now.”
He rolled his wrist as if warming up for a beatdown.
The men were terrified.
“Please don’t hurt us, my friend!”
Mu Yin sneered, “Why didn’t you think of that before harassing my wife?”
They began pointing fingers.
“Li-jie made us do it!”
“Yeah! She said to mess with them — why should we be the only ones getting hit?”
“If we’re going down, she’s going down with us!”
They turned on Li-jie, beating and kicking her as she screamed for help.
But the bystanders only laughed. No one lifted a finger to help her.
Soon, two police cars arrived and took everyone involved away.
Mu Yin turned to Song Chi…
Only to find her staring at him in complete awe.
She snapped out of it when she noticed his gaze, and her face flushed red like a boiled shrimp. She quickly looked away, embarrassed and shy—and incredibly alluring.
Mu Yin swallowed hard, clearly pleased, but then his smile vanished.
Recalling the earlier danger, his face turned serious.
“Chi Chi, why didn’t you back off earlier? Why confront them head-on? That was really dangerous!”
Song Chi: “…”
Maybe she’d gotten used to his gentle side, his sudden sternness really startled her.
Her lips pouted, and tears welled up in her eyes…
