Chapter 14: The “Sir” is President Mu?!
“Sir? What are you doing here?”
Song Chi furrowed her brows, not quite sure—were those people just now calling Sir “President Mu”?
Mu Yin’s breath caught. For the first time in his life, he felt genuinely nervous, his heart even skipped a beat.
After a moment, he gathered himself. “Song Chi, what are you doing here?”
“I came to deliver custom items to a client. Just now… they called you ‘President Mu’?”
His last name is Mu… but wasn’t he a driver?
Mu Yin shot Ye Xiu a look.
Ye Xiu caught on instantly. “Ahem, I’m President Mu.”
Only then did Song Chi notice Ye Xiu. She thought to herself: ‘Oh, so he’s the President?’
She instantly recognized him as the good Samaritan who called the police for her that night at the market.
Deep down, she had never considered that her “Sir” could be a big boss of some company. When he had lied, she hadn’t really questioned it.
She politely said, “Mister, what a coincidence, you’re my husband’s boss.”
“Yes, quite the coincidence. You two talk, I’ll go get back to work,” Ye Xiu said, then turned to leave.
Song Chi looked at Mu Yin and said with emotion, “Sir, your boss is really nice.”
Mu Yin responded faintly, “Mm…”
He glanced at the custom item bag in her hand, a trace of worry flickering in his eyes.
He really wanted to say, You’re pregnant now. Don’t push yourself so hard. It’s not like I can’t afford to support you.
But thinking back to how determined she had been about splitting things 50/50 when they got married, he swallowed his words. He didn’t want her to misunderstand and think he didn’t respect her independence.
Mu Yin: “…”
He kept the words in his throat.
Suddenly, Song Chi frowned and rubbed her chest.
Mu Yin asked in concern, “Song Chi, what’s wrong?”
“I feel a little nauseous but can’t throw up… Is this morning sickness already?”
Mu Yin, being quite clueless about pregnancy, had no idea what the whole process entailed. Still, during his spare time, he’d read books like ‘How to Be an Excellent Husband When Your Wife is Pregnant’.
One chapter mentioned that when the wife is experiencing morning sickness, her body and mind are both distressed. As a husband, he should offer comfort and support.
Mu Yin reached out and gently rubbed her back.
This was their second physical interaction since that night. His fingers trembled slightly.
Song Chi stiffened.
Both of them felt a ripple of emotion in their hearts. That touch felt like a jolt of electricity, leaving them tingling all over.
Song Chi got distracted, and the discomfort faded.
Mu Yin asked, “Feeling better now?”
“Mm, much better.”
Seeing the color return to her cheeks, Mu Yin was still uneasy. “Song Chi, let’s go to the hospital.”
“But… you have work, and a hospital visit costs money.”
Mu Yin frowned, his expression firm. “What’s more important than your health? We’re going to the hospital.”
Song Chi was stunned.
‘They’ve only known each other a short while… Why does he care so much?’
Her thoughts drifted back to the past.
When her aunt was sick and asked her uncle for money, he called her an “old hag” and said, ‘If you can’t tough it out, just die. Try spending my money, and I’ll beat you first.’
Back to reality. She looked at the man in front of her—so serious, so steadfast.
Her heart started thumping wildly, her ears burning.
She took a deep breath, trying to suppress the strange emotions.
‘Song Chi, stop overthinking. Sir said himself he won’t fall in love with you. He’s only worried about the baby!’
Her feelings were a mess—part joy, part sorrow.
Mu Yin thought she was still worried about the hospital costs. “Song Chi, you’re pregnant. If you’re even a little uncomfortable, you must get checked. Don’t worry about money, I’ll cover everything.”
Song Chi: “…”
Upon hearing that, her heart rate, which had just calmed, picked up again.
She took another deep breath, forced down her emotions, and gave him a sweet smile.
Her smile was like warm winter sunshine.
For a moment, Mu Yin felt dazzled, like a cat’s paw had tickled his heart.
“Sir, I know you’re worried about the baby. Don’t worry—I don’t feel sick anymore, I really feel fine. We don’t need to go to the hospital…”
Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, she even twirled in place and bounced on her feet.
What she didn’t know was how radiant she looked… her innocence and joy made her seem almost angelic.
Mu Yin’s gaze darkened, his throat bobbing.
“Sir, see? I’m really fine. You’ve got work, go quickly.”
Only then did Mu Yin snap back to reality, his voice a bit hoarse.
“Song Chi… are you sure we don’t need to go to the hospital?”
“Mm-hmm! I’m sure!”
Only after carefully observing her did Mu Yin finally relax. But then his gaze landed on the bag in her hand again.
“Song Chi, you’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be working so hard. I’m not just worried about the baby, I’m worried about you. I don’t want you to get exhausted. It’s not like I can’t support you. Just stay home and rest. If you need money, I’ll give you a card—you can spend freely.”
Finally, he said what was on his mind.
Song Chi thought back to how her aunt always got scolded for asking her husband for money.
To her, earning ¥3,000 herself was far more meaningful than receiving ¥3,000 from a husband. That’s why she firmly chose to make her own money.
She smiled and shook her head. “Sir, don’t worry. I won’t push myself too hard, and I won’t risk the baby. I’m just trying to save some money for the family, that’s all.”
Mu Yin: “…”
He suddenly realized—this little girl was as stubborn as an ox.
Once she made up her mind, nothing could change it.
A glimmer of admiration and surprise flashed in Mu Yin’s eyes, something even he didn’t notice.
Then he spotted a female secretary from the secretary’s office nearby, and knew he couldn’t stay any longer.
“Song Chi, tomorrow we’ll go to the hospital for a prenatal check-up. Be careful on your way back.”
“Okay!”
Mu Yin turned to leave.
Song Chi stared at his retreating figure, remembering how he’d just said he was worried about her. Without realizing it, a blissful smile crept onto her face.
A woman in office attire came up to her, they exchanged greetings, completed the transaction—money for the goods.
Counting the money she just earned, Song Chi smiled even more brightly and left Mu Group.
In the panoramic elevator, as it slowly ascended, Mu Yin watched through the glass as Song Chi got into her tricycle and rode off. Her figure gradually faded into the distance.
Mu Yin frowned with worry. He then pulled out a bank card and handed it to Ye Xiu.
“Go buy a tricycle.”
“Huh? President Mu, doesn’t that ruin your image?”
“My wife’s selling goods. I won’t let her take risks. Go! I must learn to ride it by tonight!”
Since he couldn’t beat her stubbornness, he’d just have to do more.
Pay more attention. Protect her—and the child in her belly.
