The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road Chapter 113

The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road Chapter 113

Upon returning to Rainpol, I immediately summoned my vassals.

I also asked my family to gather at the mansion. Fortunately, my father, brother Miller, and brother Ferge had returned from Ribel, so the whole family could gather after a long time.

Not just family, but for some reason Estelle was also sitting there with a big smile, but well, that shouldn’t matter.

‘I’m feeling rather nervous.’

I took a deep breath and headed to the reception room.

“Ars!”

“You’re back!”

Brother Max and brother Ferge greeted me with urgent expressions.

“We’ve heard the news. What on earth happened?”

“Please stay calm. I’ll explain everything carefully.”

Before talking about the incident with King Gareth, I decided to first reveal Wade’s true identity.

At this, brother Miller, mother, and sister Julia, who were unaware of the situation, tilted their heads in confusion.

“Little brother, what are you saying? It was cute when you were saying something absurd so seriously. But even so, Wade?”

“Haa…. I thought you’d react like that. First, let me tell you that brother Max, brother Ferge, and father already knew about this.”

“Really?”

Mother and sister Julia turned their heads sharply, their eyes seeming to question the truth. To this, brother Ferge and brother Max awkwardly nodded.

Mother made a hurt expression as if she had been betrayed.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I was afraid you’d worry like this. But I did tell father and brother Max, so please be understanding.”

Still, mother seemed not to have calmed down, wearing a rare stern expression.

That arrow of anger was directed not at me, but elsewhere.

“Dear, we’ll talk later. Max and Ferge! You too!”

“Um, um. Claire, let’s hear the rest of Ars’ story first.”

At that moment, brother Miller slightly raised his hand and spoke. “I still can’t accept this. Ars was that Wade? Even so, Wade is said to be someone who could potentially be among the Ten Heroes! Of course, I know Ars is an outstanding child, but…”

It seems sister Julia agrees as well. “That’s right! Then bring Eonia Mirabel here!”

“Sister… Eonia has often been by my side.”

“What?”

“I’ll introduce everyone now. …Come in, all of you!”

At my signal, the vassals waiting outside entered the reception room. Everyone except for Master Ilya, who was about to give birth, and Anton who was by her side.

My family gasped at the overwhelming lineup.

And sister Julia stood up abruptly, pointing at Eo.

“Why is Ms. Rania here!? Wasn’t she the housekeeper temporarily hired to look after Elsie and Chelsea?”

“Well, that’s… Lord Ars told me to… Let me introduce myself again. I’m Eonia Mirabel.”

“I often asked Ms. Rania for late-night snacks… Was that actually very rude…?”

“Not at all. That was part of my job too. Please don’t worry about it.”

“Gasp, she’s so gracious…!” Sister Julia exclaimed in admiration.

After that, Olaf, Gaspar, and Rutger introduced themselves in order.

When Rutger introduced himself, Estelle chimed in with a tiny explanation that he was her father.

“Sister, do you believe me now?”

“Y-yes. I can feel that they’re all extraordinary people just by looking at them.”

“By the way, there’s also Master Ilya and her husband. They couldn’t come today because the birth is imminent.”

A moment of silence fell in the reception room.

Eventually, my father stood up and approached my vassals.

“It seems my son has been in your care. Please continue to look after him well in the future.”

Rutger shook hands with father on behalf of the vassals.

As father eased the atmosphere, a natural flow of conversation began.

Brother Max and brother Miller were excited, saying ‘To think it’s the Jade of Rosenberg!’, and father seemed comfortable talking with Rutger, who was of a similar age.

What was unexpected were brother Ferge and sister Julia.

“Baeolaf Dresden… It’s been a while.”

“Hmm? Do you know me? It seems we’re meeting for the first time.”

“Well, you wouldn’t know me. To you, I was probably just a pebble on the street.”

From what I hear, the three of them seem to have been classmates at Fensillon Academy.

However, while Baeolaf was famous enough that everyone at the academy knew him, brother Ferge and sister Julia were, as they said, just ordinary students among many.

“Haha, what an interesting coincidence. Well, I’ll remember your face and name from now on, so I hope you won’t take offense. Ferge Elaine.”

“Yeah, please take good care of my little brother.”

I was relieved that things seemed to be going well.

I let out a sigh of relief, but then mother came closer and whispered. “Dear, who is that person?”

“Ah, you mean Gaspar.”

Gaspar was sitting alone like an isolated island, eating snacks.

“Yes. He feels a bit… Dangerous.” Mother was furtively glancing at Gaspar with concern.

Well, Gaspar generally doesn’t have a good attitude, and pure-blooded beastkin have a unique intimidating presence.

“I found this out by chance, but actually, that person is Yumir’s birth father.”

“What? Is that true!?”

“It is. He seems to have a surprisingly sentimental side, wanting to watch over his daughter without revealing that he’s her father. So don’t worry too much.”

“I see…”

The light of wariness towards Gaspar had disappeared before I knew it.

Mother approached Gaspar with a warm smile. “Would you like another cup of tea? We have some tea leaves that Yumir grew herself. I’ll brew that for you.”

“Hmm. Th-thank you.”

Even Gaspar seems to read the atmosphere and sits as quietly as possible.

Confirming that the mood had mellowed, I decided to tell my family everything about the secret of my birth and the recent incident with King Gareth.

After hearing the circumstances, my family showed various reactions. Father and my brothers murmured in surprise.

“To think Ars was of royal blood. So that’s why King Gareth…”

“In a way, it’s even more surprising than the thing about Wade.”

On the other hand, mother and sister Julia had sad expressions.

I smiled bitterly and said. “Don’t worry. I just learned about this fact, but the Elaine family will always be my only family.”

“Sob! Little brother!” Sister hugged me, sobbing. Mother hugged Yumir tightly, saying she must have gone through a lot.

After they calmed down, I conveyed my future plans.

“I intend to pacify the coming turbulent times. This is not as a member of the royal family, but of my own will. It’s not all decided yet… But I might need to cooperate with Crossing for this.”

“What do you plan to do with Calliper?” It was father’s question.

“If possible, I plan to join hands with Calliper as well. I maintain a good relationship with Duke Hellian after all.”

I have some idea of the king’s intentions in empowering me.

‘In the future, if I can win over Duke Hellian, it won’t be difficult to annex the Kingdom of Calliper.’

But now wasn’t the time for that.

“I wanted to ask for opinions from father and my brothers on this part. What do you think I should do?”

And so, the family meeting continued even past dinner time.

When we finished consulting with the family, it had become completely dark.

Mother suggested staying overnight, but news came that master’s labor pains had intensified, so I decided to return to my mansion for now.

“They are good people,” Rutger said.

“I didn’t think there would be such benevolent nobles.”

“Haha, do you fall short of that standard yourself?”

“I was more wicked than benevolent. Until Estelle fell ill, I was desperately trying to climb up. When my wife died in an accident and Estelle got sick, I realized that such things were meaningless, but by then it was too late. I think that if I had lived like your family, content with what I was given without greed, perhaps I could have avoided such tragedies.”

“I don’t know what words of comfort to offer.”

“No need to worry about it. It’s just the ramblings of a fool who realized what’s precious too late.”

Rutger looked at Estelle with eyes full of determination, as if he would make an effort from now on.

As for Estelle, she was giggling happily for some reason. “Lord Ars. This would be a secret that can’t be easily told to others, right?”

“Of course.”

“Even to Erina?”

“I can’t tell her.”

This fact must not be revealed to anyone other than vassals and family. In some ways, it could be even more fatal than Wade’s identity being revealed.

Estelle was fine since she was Rutger’s family, but Erina wasn’t.

“It’s a secret just between the two of us. Hehe. Hehehe…!” Estelle laughed mischievously.

That’s how it was on the way back to my mansion.

Yumir, who had gone ahead to check on master’s condition, appeared. “Young master, according to the midwife, Lady Ilya’s labor pains have noticeably intensified. It seems the birth is not far off.”

“Is that so? Then I should go to master’s house right away. Rutger, Olaf, Gaspar. You can go back first if you’d like.”

To this, only Gaspar said he had nothing to do at home anyway and came along. Though he said that, he probably wanted to be with Yumir.

So I set off for master’s house, accompanied by Eo, Yumir, and Gaspar.

Master’s house, where she was staying with Anton, was a small two-story mansion.

Since there would be outsiders like the midwife and priest at the birthing place, we decided to wear masks to cover our faces, just in case.

I was inwardly expecting to hear screams of labor pains, but there were none at all.

Master was silently enduring the pain with a stern expression. Even the midwife was startled by this sight.

“It, it would actually be helpful for the birth if you scream.”

“It’s fine. I can bear it. …Ah, you’ve come, Wade.”

The priest and midwife whipped their heads around at the mention of Wade.

“Don’t mind me, just continue with what you were doing.”

Still, they seemed concerned and kept glancing over at me.

“How are you feeling?”

To my question, master nodded nonchalantly.

“Compared to the pain of being stabbed and cut by a sword, this is nothing.”

“No, that kind of comparison is a bit…”

“Hah, don’t worry. I’ll definitely give birth to a healthy child. More importantly, have you thought of a name for the child?”

“For now, yes.”

No sooner had those words ended that master’s voice began to rise. The cold sweat flowing down master’s face also started to increase.

Anton kept swallowing dry saliva, his mouth seemingly parched.

To avoid unnecessary worry, I decided to leave the room for now.

Not long after that…

“Waaah!”

A loud cry. It was clearly that of a male child. When I went back into the room, the midwife was holding the baby up high.

“He’s a healthy boy!”

The midwife exhaled in admiration, as if amazed. She probably couldn’t have imagined there would be a mother who didn’t make a single groan during childbirth.

Master received the baby wrapped in a blanket and grinned. “See, I told you I’d give birth to a healthy child, didn’t I? Now, will you tell me the child’s name?”

“I thought of Gawain. What do you think?”

“Gawain?”

“I named him after a renowned knight I know.”

“Hmm, it’s the first time I’ve heard of it.”

“Haha, you probably wouldn’t know.”

“Gawain, huh… Not bad. Gawain Quinter. From now on, this is your name.”

Anton also smiled, seeming to like it.

Afterwards, the midwife and priest gave advice on post-birth care and left. It seems that usually, mothers are often exhausted and sleep after giving birth, but master showed no signs of that at all.

Rather, she seemed to want to talk. I decided to carefully bring up that topic.

“Master, can you spare some time soon? There’s something important I’d like to discuss.”

“Something you want to talk about? Can’t it be now?”

“Now is a bit… I feel like it might ruin the mood. I just need a moment of your time later.”

“Hmm. It seems like it’s a heavy topic. If that’s the case, all the more reason to talk now. I don’t mind.”

It seems I shouldn’t have brought it up. Anton also had his eyes wide open, wondering what was going on.

“No, it’s not that serious a matter, so next time…”

But that’s when it happened.

“Shh!”

Gaspar signaled for silence and urgently grabbed my collar.

Then, sniff! sniff! He pressed close to the window and started smelling something outside. Soon, his expression distorted.

“Damn it!”

“What is it? All of a sudden.”

“Kid, cover your face right now! Anton! Mirabel! Hold weapons, just in case!”

“What is it, I’m asking?”

“That bastard Guderian is here!”

“…!?”

Three-Armed Guderian Chester.

The key figure of this story had suddenly arrived.

  1. Jay Crowler says:

The kid being named Gawain is both great and concerning at the same time. It’s great because Gawain is Arthur’s nephew and Ars is basically Arthur. The concerning part is Gawain depending on the version is either chivalrous or has to get killed by Lancelot.
