The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road 309

The Extra Strategist’s Royal Road Chapter 309

The Central Continent I returned to after about a month of vacation.

This place had already entered early winter.

Considering the enemy would start their march as soon as winter ends, the remaining period was about two months.

I spent time directing fortress construction at locations that could become strategic points.

After about a month passed, snow began to fall, and I had returned.

In the garden of the mansion located in Grancel, children were playing with snow.

Surprisingly, Mirabel was playing with those children.

Due to her body made of magic, she couldn’t spatially transfer and originally couldn’t come to the Central Continent, but when I said I would take all the children back, she insisted on coming along, seemingly unable to bear the loneliness.

Thus, like Juras leading a fleet outside, she entered here by using a gap in the division barrier.

Mirabel was buried in the snow, becoming a human snowman.

Despite having a body made of magic that doesn’t feel cold, she was buried in snow and laughing broadly while looking at the children.

Worried, Edward makes a sad face and asks,

“Aren’t you cold, Ancestor?”

Perhaps touched by that concerned look, she smashed the hardened snow with a ‘Pak!’ to demonstrate her well-being.

The children then laughed and ran away as if a monster had appeared.

It seemed they were playing a game of sealing a monster with snow, not just making a snowman.

As the children were running away, Ernie changed direction and ran towards me.

“Dad!”

That became a signal, and the other kids also approached me.

Gawain also came running, greeting Anton who came with me.

It was naturally expected that Mirabel would tremble slightly.

“Aren’t you all cold?”

“Cold!”

“Shall we go inside the house?”

Seeing smoke rising from the mansion, it seemed they were preparing a meal.

Entering the mansion’s interior, the wives were busily setting the table.

It seemed they heard I was returning today and were preparing a feast.

“Young master, you have arrived? Was your journey smooth?”

“Yes, there was a lot of snow, but nothing significant happened.”

The dining table was quickly set.

Contrary to the grand mansion, there was no formality.

With many children present, they were busy feeding the kids first.

I was also feeding Ryuna while sitting next to her.

During this, Olaf asks me, “Ars, how are the enemy’s movements?”

“They seem to be filled with determination. It seems they’re planning to settle the score this time.”

“Have you found Rancia Galeron and Todolam Dorlen?”

“…Not yet.”

The legendary general of the Fencillon Empire and his rival Todolam.

While searching for their whereabouts, no clear results had emerged.

This meant our intelligence network had limitations, which made my spine tingle.

“And regarding Tetora Anistri, when will you execute her?”

“That part has become a bit complicated.”

Although she was sentenced to death by our military tribunal, negotiations from the West and Svenner were delaying the execution.

I definitely planned to execute Tetora, but since the other side wanted to talk, I wanted to hear what they had to say.

Thus, I was postponing the execution.

The next day, something happened.

The other side finally requested a specific meeting.

Upon seeing the name of the meeting’s requester, I immediately decided to accept.

* * *

The meeting was to be held at the border between Svenner and Balas.

Although the nature of the meeting was unknown, there was intelligence that the enemy’s key generals would appear, so we decided to head out in full force.

Along with the core trio of myself, Kaien, and Juras, Mirabel, Anton, and Cassius Lloyd accompanied us.

“It’s been a long time, Alsh.”

The fake protagonist, Cassius, greeted me politely.

Serving as the lord of Balas, he was receiving very good evaluations from Balas citizens.

Anton blinked and looked at him, wondering if his martial arts skills had improved.

Meanwhile, Mirabel looked dejected about being separated from the children.

The meeting was quickly prepared.

Both sides met at a place with just a single table, without military escorts or a tent.

Thump! Thump! Both sides gradually approaching.

‘That must be Calvern…!’

He was exactly like the intelligence reports. Next to him, Aggert stood with an expression as if feigning innocence.

In the center were Zemuto, the great general of Svenner, and the second general Hasikuran. On his right was an unidentified middle-aged man.

Kaien whispers quietly,

“Exactly like the portrait… That man is Rancia Galeron, the founding contributor and great general of Fensillon.”

Next to him was an eerily handsome man.

Todolam Dorlen, the young general of Erebonia known as a genius, who had died young and was Rancia Galeron’s rival.

Guderian and Svenner’s fierce general Linhardt were also present, adding to the oppressive atmosphere.

‘They’ve all come out in full force.’

The two sides faced each other.

Their momentum was equal.

Although I wanted to take the lead in the conversation, the other side spoke first.

It was Rancia Galeron

He frowned while looking at me.

“Hmm…”

“…?”

“You are indeed carrying the bloodline of Fensillon.”

“…!?”

Rancia Galeron immediately grasped a fact known only to my closest confidants.

Grinding his teeth, he continued speaking, “I can see fragments of the first emperor in your face. Both in your gaze and appearance. Answer me, are you carrying the bloodline of Fensillon?”

“What can you do if that’s the case?”

“…I will definitely kill you with my own hands.”

His eyes were burning with the light of revenge.

‘Could this historical account actually have been the truth?’

After the founding of the Fensillon Empire, when Rancia Galeron gained public support as a war hero, the emperor, feeling burdened, assassinated him.

Considering how the members of the Galeron family disappeared one by one at the time, it seems more accurate to say that the entire family was exterminated to eliminate potential future troubles.

‘The reason why mother goddess brought him back is clear.’

Revenge against Fensillon, and ambition.

The same goes for Todolam Dorlen. Having died young, he was filled with a will for a new life.

“I’ll tear you apart and throw you to the dogs as feed, just like you killed my daughters…!”

Rancia Galeron growls. Anton raises his momentum and counters by drawing his sword.

“Your neck will fly before that happens.”

“Ouch, wait.”

Guderian extends his spear to check Anton.

Todolam Dorlen also draws his rapier, saying the situation is getting interesting, and Mirabel points her spear in response.

In that moment of tension, Kaien slams down his staff and changes the atmosphere.

“Quiet!”

Kaien stares at Zemuto, the enemy’s leader, with deep eyes.

“Zemuto, you requested this meeting. If you have something to say, do it quickly.”

Zemuto nods and speaks as if reciting from a script.

“Tetora Anistri captured by your Liande is a royal of Claharm.”

Claharm was essentially the official name of the western ethnic group.

“She deserves appropriate courtesy. She is not someone who can be executed at will by another kingdom. We will pay the price, so release her immediately.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“You must know that we have no intention of releasing her…. Are you here to declare war?”

“…”

A nod. Zemuto responded in an emotionless voice.

“Then the negotiations are broken. Our Svenner will declare war on you at this moment.”

“How sudden.”

It was a proclamation of a kind of justification.

The meeting room became filled with murderous intent.

At this point, Todolam Dorlen smiles and says,

“Not bad? With people of this caliber as opponents, and with Rancia Galeron on my side, I thought this would be an easy war…. I’m excited.”

The energy from Todolam Dorlen felt incredibly strange.

Though he seemed frivolous and lightweight, my heart beat anxiously just looking at him.

Rancia Galeron and Calvern nod in agreement.

But Juras sighs, feeling deflated.

“How disappointing. I had high expectations after hearing about the legend of Fensillon and the genius of Erebonia…. They turned out to be just ordinary rabble.”

At those insulting words, Rancia and Todolam’s faces hardened, but Juras’ composure remained unbroken.

“I’ll be at the northern battlefield. Who’s coming to die?”

I could feel the opponents wavering at Juras’s provocation.

Rancia and Todolam did not readily step forward, feeling the strange and ominous nature of Juras.

They were cautious because they had no information about Juras.

I decided to ride along with that provocation.

“I’ll be at the southern battlefield, so if you want to kill me, feel free to try.”

Rancia, finding this perfectly timed, was fired up.

* * *

After the meeting ended, we gathered in Platon, the old capital of Fensillon, to devise our next strategy.

Kaien reprimanded me and Juras.

“Are you in your right mind, revealing the battlefields you’ll be on!”

“They probably already knew. At least that I’d be in the south, Juras in the north, and you in the center.”

“Even so!”

“Anyway, let’s drop that matter.”

Juras began the basic war briefing.

After the briefing ended, I headed to the library of Platon.

I was there to verify the war records of Rancia Galeron and Todolam Dorlen, who would be our opponents.

When I gathered the books, they totaled over 20 volumes.

‘Rancia Galeron, the undefeated commander…. The miracle man Todolam Dorlen….’

The book titles were all grandiose.

Especially for Rancia, there were many exaggerations.

Stories like fighting a thousand battles without a single defeat, or appearing simultaneously in two battlefields – many accounts lacked credibility.

In contrast, the records about Todolam, who was an enemy general, were written simply and factually.

Seeing his achievements, I had no choice but to re-evaluate him.

Things like controlling 5,000 troops to harass an army of 100,000, or conducting a 10-day forced march to suddenly capture and fall the enemy’s capital.

‘He’s a high-action type.’

Meanwhile, Rancia seemed to fundamentally operate his troops calmly.

‘He’ll probably know this terrain better than me.’

While Tetora Anistri had some inexperience with local geography and exposed weaknesses, these two did not.

Since they were a combination, I decided to have an ally rather than responding alone.

That would be Cassius Lloyd.

I brought him as my adjutant and summoned Sophia, Olaf, Rutger, and Altior to begin preparations for the imminent war.
