Otherworld Constellation Gallery
Chapter 32
Tulip explained that ‘oblivion poison’ is a poison that makes someone forget themselves for 3 seconds, though its toxicity is mild.
“Sounds terrifying when you hear it, right?”
“Yeah. It is terrifying.”
3 seconds. A very short time. But if those 3 seconds are on the battlefield, it’s a different story. A time when life could go back and forth multiple times.
“But mister.”
“Hm?”
“Is there nothing else? You said you got a scroll when you killed ghouls last time, right?”
“Ah, that’s right.”
I immediately rummaged through my inventory. However, there was no new scroll. Instead, something appeared that wasn’t there before.
[Ghoul’s Tooth] A tooth of a ghoul (high-grade).
What kind of explanation is this? More importantly, it’s classified in the materials category. That means it’s an item that can be processed….
‘Or is it just that monster remains like this automatically go into the materials section?’
Just in case, I showed it to Kang Ha-rin.
“Is this needed to make something?”
Kang Ha-rin looked at it from different angles and tilted her head.
“If you tell me exactly what to make with it, I think I could pull it off…But nothing specific is coming to mind on my own.”
Ah, was I scammed in this contract too?
‘Smith’s Touch,’ ‘Thermoforming,’ such impressive skill names, but what’s this?
No, that’s not it. Tulip’s medical skills also didn’t impress me at first, but now they seem incredibly efficient. This must have something to it too.
“Can I see it too?”
Speaking of the devil. Tulip held out her hand.
I handed over the tooth. Tulip examined it from various angles, then suddenly stared at me.
“What are you looking at?”
“We should be careful with this.”
“Oh, you mean how it causes non stop bleeding if it stabs you? Something about clotting agents being suppressed?”
“No?”
Tulip blinked.
“If you get stabbed with this, you become a ghoul.”
“What?”
“If you get stabbed.”
Tulip looked at me directly and emphasized.
“You become a ghoul.”
“…What kind of crazy talk is that?”
This was information I’d never heard on the Constellation Gallery. I’m sure I only read posts about unstoppable bleeding when injured?
“I’m sure if you stab a dead person, they won’t wake up as a ghoul?”
“That’s not the case. If a dead organism is stabbed, since the cells have stopped functioning…”
“Stop explaining.”
When I cut her off, Tulip looked at me with a disappointed face.
“Pouting your lips won’t work.”
I spoke firmly and put the tooth away.
Then I turned my head to look at Kang Ha-rin.
“Did you increase your magic power, no, intelligence?”
Kang Ha-rin flinched.
“Why are you flinching? You didn’t spend it all recklessly again, did you?”
“I haven’t spent it yet.”
“Good. It’s best to use gold only as much as needed.”
This game, no, this damn system could stab you in the back with any variable at any time.
“For now, just increase one stat, and try to transform that damn Tico key back into a car key from nearby.”
“Yes!”
“No, no!”
Kang Ha-rin paused.
“I’ll get you more metal, so make a new one with that. It would be crazy to transform an 110,000 gold car key that we just made.”
“Ah… I understand.”
[First Hunter is such a stingy bastard LOLOLOLOL][97]
[That’s why Pingpo gave him money to buy a car LOL][45]
[First Hunter is such a savage!][213]
The Constellation Gallery was noisy again with posts praising me.
Meanwhile, Kang Ha-rin created a new key.
Atos, the name we discovered after thoroughly searching the shop.
We stood in front of that car.
“This should work, right?”
I held the key and inserted it into the door.
Tulip and Kang Ha-rin watched with tense faces from beside me.
CLICK.
The door opened when I turned the key.
“Oh!”
I smiled brightly at Kang Ha-rin. Kang Ha-rin finally smiled with relief.
“Get in, everyone.”
I got into the driver’s seat. Kang Ha-rin took the passenger seat, and Tulip sat in the back.
“Everyone fasten your seatbelts first. Even if you’ve increased your stamina, you should do things properly.”
They quietly fastened their seatbelts.
“Everyone buckled in?”
“Yes!”
“Then we’re off.”
I floored the accelerator.
VROOOOOM-!
“KYAAAAH! Ju-han! I’m scared!”
While Kang Ha-rin screamed right next to me, Tulip was quiet.
I might be fine because of ‘Constellation’s Spirit,’ but Tulip’s silence was unexpected.
‘Is she so used to scarier monsters that this doesn’t bother her?’
I checked Tulip in the rearview mirror. Just as I thought.
She had her lips tightly closed and a stiff face like someone riding a scary amusement park ride.
“Both of you, just bear with it a little. We don’t have time to delay.”
“We’re gonna crash!!”
“We boosted our stamina, didn’t we?”
“No! Didn’t you tell us to fasten our seatbelts as a precaution even though we increased our stamina?!”
“Yeah. And you’ve fastened them, so we’re good.”
“No, that’s not what I meant…!”
“KYAAAAH! Mister!”
Eventually Tulip started screaming too.
[The cheapskate doesn’t even care about fuel lol][39]
[It would’ve been real madness if he cared about fuel usage too, but this is unreal madness LOLOLOLOL][47]
[He’ll come to his senses once the fuel runs out and he has to walk][28]
What are these crazy people saying?
I’m going to get fuel first anyway.
***
After stocking up on gas cans, I learnt one thing while driving the car.
Ghouls don’t die easily even when you run them over with a car.
‘And they used to die with just three hits from a frying pan to the head….’
Wondering if the head might be the weak point, I ran over a fallen one’s head, and only then did it stop breathing. But no gold came in.
‘What is this?!’
If you kill a monster with arrows, you get gold. But if you kill it with bullets, you don’t.
If you kill it by running it over with a car, you don’t get gold either.
‘I can’t even guess what the mechanism is.’
There is one more thing that changed after testing.
“Barbarian.”
“I told you, I was testing whether gold would come in or not with this method.”
Since the head wasn’t easy to run over, I had to go back and forth several times, and since then they’ve been calling me that. Anyway, we arrived in Daejeon like that.
“You really are a good navigator.”
“Oh, this is easy! This doesn’t even count as finding a path. You just need to be able to read the signs.”
Kang Ha-rin was being modest.
Despite her words, her shoulders were raised. She seemed happy to have finally proven her usefulness.
“The place feels different from Incheon.”
The streets are clean, but eerily quiet.
Kang Ha-rin looked around, and Tulip was already holding her bow.
“There’s no one here .”
“Did they flee?”
“Not flee, they’re probably holed up in their homes.”
“By the way, why did we come here?”
“You’re asking that now?”
“Your driving scared the soul out of me, so I couldn’t think of anything.”
“And you horribly ran over monsters too.”
“Right! While we were in the car!”
That’s when it happened.
“Please! Somebody help me!”
Everyone instantly turned their heads toward the sound. Far away, a man was crawling on the ground, having fallen backward. And there was something in front of him.
“Hold on tight.”
“What?”
“I’m going to ram it with the car.”
They both flinched and then gripped their seatbelts tightly. I stepped on the accelerator more. I held the steering wheel tightly and pushed the acceleration pedal all the way down.
VROOOOOM!
CRASH!!
The monster that collided with the car was pushed back a little, but it seemed to take less damage than expected. Even less than a ghoul.
“Shit…”
I just dented the car for nothing. After all the trouble getting this car.
“Mister, why do you keep ramming monsters with the car?!”
“It would be weird to drive the car up to the monster and calmly park.”
“That’s true, but…”
“I saved gold to use it like this if possible.”
Tulip mumbled with her lips and then countered.
“No, no matter what, just looking at it you can tell it’s a crustacean. It’s obvious the car will just get ruined.”
Right. Tulip is definitely smarter than me. Looking at the completely crushed car with the dashboard pushed in and smoke coming from the vents, I can’t help but admit it.
The monster was glaring at us.
It wasn’t just its shell that looked tough.
CLANG! CLANG!
A threatening sound from its pincers.
“At this rate, won’t we get cut in half too?”
“Mister, how can you calmly say such scary things like it’s nothing?”
“At least it doesn’t seem to move as fast as the ghouls. It’s not even attacking now.”
The person who fell earlier would have been too terrified to even think about that.
“Still, don’t let your guard down.”
“That’s my line.”
“You’re the one making us let our guard down.”
“Everyone get out of the car. It might explode.”
“Why do you keep scaring us?!”
I silently stared at Tulip for a moment.
“…I mean, you complain when I make you let your guard down, and you complain when I scare you. What should I do?”
“Take care of that thing first.”
I was being sarcastic, but she gave an answer. And it came back as a clear demand.
‘Manyō’s Tomb Summon.’
The sword that appeared in my hand feels cool and heavy. Ah, this feeling is, how do I put it?
It’s like becoming the sword master Go Gil-dong.
‘This will end quickly.’
I immediately charged at it. And without hesitation, I drew a line. But then.
CRACK-!
Instantly, the sword stopped.
‘Shit, wait a second…’
Manyō’s Tomb, which had sliced through even Pimuk like crazy at dawn today, was blocked by just one of its shell.
At that moment, the crab monster’s hand was already moving toward me.
‘SHITTT.’
