Mistaken for a Catastrophe-Level Ghost Story Employee 121

Chapter 121.

“Ugh-”

“Incineration.”

CaptainKang Tae-sik seemed to momentarily react to Noise’s words about incineration.

“Incineration…Yeah. That might be the right term for burning trash like you bastards. You son of a bitch!”

“You have quite the foul mouth. I’m extremely grateful our ‘excellent successor’ isn’t someone who uses violent language and curses like you.”

As Noise let out a sigh of relief at his own good fortune, Kang Tae-sik, who couldn’t stand listening to such nonsense any longer—

Whoosh—

Immediately began emitting even greater firepower from his knuckles.

“I’ll incinerate you without leaving a single trace! You bastard!”

Swoosh—

Kang Tae-sik steadied his stance and pulled his right fist all the way behind his back before thrusting it forward mercilessly.

BOOM—!!

A massive pillar of flame shot horizontally, instantly swallowing the spot where Noise had been standing.

With just that single punch, the area swept by Kang Tae-sik’s attack was completely obliterated.

All that remained was an oval-shaped depression in the ground and an empty space filled only with swirling black ash.

Kang Tae-sik stared blankly at the aftermath of his attack for a while before—

Tsk—

Clicking his tongue dismissively.

“What the hell. Some S-grade horror story this is. Just a worthless piece of shit.”

Far from feeling disappointed that the situation had ended much faster than expected, Kang Tae-sik only felt like he’d come here for nothing.

As the flames from his knuckles died down as if they’d never existed, he let out a sigh and—

Just as he was about to turn back toward the agency—

Zzt—!

Whoosh—!

The moment static grazed his ear, Kang Tae-sik unleashed an overwhelming burst of firepower from his knuckles, enough to engulf the entire surrounding area at once.

The sheer, unbelievable intensity of the flames melted everything around him except the spot where he stood.

Yet, completely unfazed by the inferno, a figure stepped forward—

Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap—

Applauding Kang Tae-sik.

Zzzt—

With the familiar sound of static in his ears.

“That’s incredible firepower! Amazing! With flames like that, you could definitely incinerate trash properly!”

“…You bastard. You’re like a damn cockroach.”

“A cockroach? I’m not an insect. There must be some misunderstanding.”

Noise began calmly conversing with Kang Tae-sik as if nothing had happened.

In contrast, Kang Tae-sik’s expression darkened.

Not only had this bastard dodged his attack, but he didn’t even seem touched.

Whoosh—

Flames erupted from Kang Tae-sik’s knuckles, engulfing his entire body.

In an instant, he was wreathed in flames so intense they could burn skin on mere contact.

His glare was filled with murderous intent directed squarely at Noise.

“Flame-headed bastard. Today, I’ll make you regret ever meeting me. And don’t think you’ll die easily. I’ll burn you limb by limb, slowly.”

Swoooosh—

The flames swirling within a 10-meter radius around Kang Tae-sik made it seem like a miniature sun had appeared in the space.

When Noise’s lips moved behind his blank, expressionless face—

His reply was as dry as ever.

“I’d love to accept a gentleman’s invitation like this…but unfortunately, I have a prior engagement today.”

Noise raised his left arm and—

Tick—

Snapped his fingers.

Immediately, static crackled behind him. Sensing something, Kang Tae-sik—

Thud! Thud! Thud!—

Charged toward Noise with heavy, crater-like footsteps.

“You bastard! Where do you think you’re running?!”

But Noise wanted to correct that statement.

“Not ‘running.’ I just have a prior engagement. And don’t worry—next time, it won’t be me, but my excellent junior who will entertain you.”

Step—

Noise began walking into the static.

“You wanna die?! Get your ass back here now!”

“Then, let’s meet again next time.”

“You fucking bastard—!!”

Whoosh—

Kang Tae-sik reached out, trying to grab Noise as he disappeared into the static—

But of course—

Zzt—

Before his hand could make contact, Noise vanished along with the static.

“……”

The human-shaped inferno stood silently on the empty roadside.

Calmly.

Methodically.

Then unleashed all the flames stored within his body.

“You fucking bastard—!!!”

In an instant, the surrounding buildings and the entire area were burned beyond recognition.

And naturally, afterward—

All resulting damages were deducted from CaptainKang Tae-sik’s salary.

*****

Zzzzzzt—

Having escaped Kang Tae-sik’s grasp through his static, Noise was now stepping into the world for another engagement, as mentioned earlier.

Borrowing the body of his excellent junior, he had finally arrived here.

Truly, getting here…

Had taken an incredibly long time.

“But…if it’s ‘her,’ she must have already noticed. She’s always been quick to catch on.”

Step—

Noise walked down a desolate, silent road, moving forward aimlessly—

Swish—!

!

When something came flying toward him at high speed, Noise instinctively generated static in front of himself as always.

Zzt—

Having narrowly avoided the mysterious attack, Noise turned his gaze toward its origin—

And saw seven figures clad in black suits.

Given their identical attire to Kang Tae-sik, whom he’d briefly encountered earlier, it was obvious they were affiliated with him.

But among them, Noise couldn’t take his eyes off one person in particular.

Specifically, the one with a flushed expression who—

Nodded—

Prompting Noise to slowly bow in greeting.

To the person he had longed to meet again, his old acquaintance after so long, Noise lowered his head and spoke in his characteristic playful tone—

More politely than ever.

With utmost sincerity.

Infusing his voice with respect.

“It’s truly an honor to meet you again…Adam.”

“……”

*****

Meanwhile, at the same time—

“Calm down, you crazy woman!”

“…Listen. They say if you die in a dream, you return to reality.”

“How many times do I have to say that’s a last resort?!”

“…Just die! Hurry up and die so we can go back!!”

“No, you lunatic!!”

For the past several minutes, Eve had been confronting me with a kitchen knife in hand.

“Die! Park Yeon-jeong! For the peace of the world!”

“I said no!”

Slip—!

!

Eve, who had been charging at me with the knife, couldn’t control her momentum—

Thud—!

And fell flat on the floor.

“Oww…”

While she rubbed her forehead in pain, I didn’t miss my chance.

Grabbing the blanket behind me—

Whoosh—!

“Hey! What are you doing?!”

I quickly wrapped it around her body. Though Eve’s resistance was fierce, in the end—

Crunch—

Restraint successful.

“Let me go right now! Yeon-jeong, you must want to escape this dream too!”

Stomp, stomp, stomp—

Bound in the blanket, Eve could only flail her legs.

“As I said before, dying in the dream is an absolute last resort. If there’s truly no other way, then…I’ll consider it.”

“There isn’t! That’s why I’m telling you to die! Just die already!!”

“……”

What a headache of a woman.

But as she said, we couldn’t stay trapped in this space forever.

If Eve was right, Noise had taken over my body and was now heading toward someone named “Adam.”

“…But is he really the Adam I know?”

The first human.

The man called the father of all mankind, written on the very first page of the Bible.

Adam.

“How many times do I have to say it’s me?!”

“…More importantly.”

Suppressing my irritation, I pressed the feral girl for more details.

“If Adam is the first human like I’ve heard, shouldn’t he have died ages ago? Is he really still alive?”

A perfectly reasonable question.

“I don’t know the details either. But…ever heard of ‘women’s intuition’?”

“……”

I was right to stop her earlier.

Nothing she said sounded remotely credible.

But even so, we couldn’t stay trapped in this dream forever.

For a brief moment—

I stared intently at the kitchen knife in Eve’s hand.

……

No.

Let’s think of a better way.

As I pondered how to make the most of the situation—

Flash—!

An idea struck me. Closing my eyes, I focused my mind.

But seeing this, Eve only scoffed.

“It’s useless no matter what you try!”

“……”

“Just die! How many times do I have to say it? Die, Park Yeon-jeong!”

“……”

(‘Should’ve gagged her too.’)

Letting her noisy protests go in one ear and out the other, I concentrated—

……

……

……

Zzt—!

“Done!”

(‘It worked?’)

It really did.

The static buzzing in my ear was proof my plan had succeeded.

And the moment that sound reached Eve’s ears—

Her trembling pupils locked onto the source of the static.

“……”

Her lips, tightly sealed until now, parted slightly as a presence spoke to her in a calm voice.

“…It’s really…been a long time, Eve.”
