Dragonslayer’s Class Regression Chapter 52

Chapter 52

“Insane…”

The scene before his eyes was utterly horrific.

There were traces of various human experiments conducted regardless of age, gender, or race.

That’s when Zeke was trembling with rage.

“Who are you!”

A magician in an experimental robe shouted at Zeke.

Having just finished an experiment, the magician’s robe was covered in blood and debris.

Zeke opened his mouth toward the magician.

“I’ll give you one chance. If you tell me what you did here, I’ll at least give you a comfortable death.”

Realizing Zeke was an intruder, the magician stretched out his hand.

“Poison Fog!”

Being a poison-type magician, he immediately created a poisonous fog to attack Zeke.

[Magic-synthesized poison detected.]

[It exceeds the effect of All-Poison Immunity constitution.]

[Entering poisoned state.]

Magic-created poison apparently couldn’t be blocked by All-Poison Immunity.

However, Zeke’s Healing Factor recovered his body faster than the poison could take effect.

Zeke drew Bahamut and charged forward.

“Huk!”

Before the magician could properly react, Zeke’s sword cut through his body.

Looking at the instantly dead magician, Zeke gritted his teeth.

“I let you die too comfortably.”

Though the Healing Factor allowed him to move without issue, he couldn’t leave the poison as is, so he took out and drank an antidote potion from his inventory.

Once the poisoned state was cleared and his body returned to normal, Zeke entered deeper into the laboratory with his sword.

Passing by experiment tables with test subjects strewn about, he came to a space lined with various reagents and experimental equipment further inside.

There were experimental magicians there too.

“I-Intruder!”

Before the magicians could speak, intense heat poured from Zeke’s sword.

Whoosh!

Pure flames burned the magicians’ bodies.

They didn’t even have time to scream.

“No need to show mercy to those who aren’t even human.”

Zeke turned around and set fire to where the horrifically dead test subjects were as well.

Then he searched the area where the magicians had been and threw experimental materials and records into his inventory.

He ripped out and collected even the sealed items entirely.

He planned to examine them carefully after leaving this place and returning to the safe house.

‘If as Princess Melissa said, the Hong-hwa Disease was created by magic, it might have been made here.’

Just as Zeke had burned down the laboratory and was about to leave the dungeon.

Hissss―

Dense poisonous fog sprayed toward Zeke.

[Magic-synthesized poison detected.]

After confirming the system’s warning, Zeke immediately stepped back.

Then someone appeared from within the poison fog.

“Who dares to meddle with my laboratory.”

It was an old man in a black robe.

Zeke observed the pattern drawn on the old man’s robe and the number of rings.

‘Scorpion pattern with six rings. Must be an elder of the Scorpion Clan.’

The robe’s pattern indicated a magician’s affiliation, and the number of rings showed the circle they had achieved.

Having reached the 6th circle meant he was a high-ranking magician, typically an elder of a famous clan or a division commander of a magic corps.

The old man raised his hand toward Zeke.

“Who sent you?”

Instead of replying, Zeke immediately charged forward with Bahamut.

He knew well there was nothing good about exchanging words with a magician during battle.

Woong!

An Aura Blade rose from Zeke’s sword.

The old man was surprised and quickly cast a spell.

Crash!

The old man’s body crumbled like sand, avoiding Zeke’s Aura Blade.

Then he reformed at a distance from Zeke.

Before the old man could cast another spell, Zeke used his Magic Reflection skill.

Ziiing!

A magic reflection field spread around Zeke.

The old man frowned when he found his magic wouldn’t move as he wished.

“Damn you! Don’t tell me you’re a Draker pureblood!”

Draker pureblood awakeners with the ability to interfere with magic were the natural enemies of magicians.

The old man hurriedly took something out from his chest and tore it immediately.

Then a magic circle made of sand was drawn on the floor, and a synthetic chimera jumped out from it.

Zeke frowned at the synthetic chimera.

‘These Scorpion clan guys! Bastards are always annoying to deal with.’

The Scorpion Clan, based in the desert, was a black magician group that only learned taboo magic that others avoided.

Not only did they create synthetic chimeras and synthetic poisons, but they also studied magic that created golems through forbidden methods and controlled the dead.

Because of such wickedness, in the Holy Kingdom, just being affiliated with the Scorpion Clan was enough to warrant execution.

The fact that this Scorpion Clan and the Empire conducted human experiments together was a scandal that could turn the entire continent upside down.

“Grrrr!”

The chimera, seemingly made by mixing a desert black scorpion’s tail with a southern jungle shark dragon and griffin legs, bared its teeth at Zeke.

As soon as the saliva fell, smoke rose from the floor with a hissing sound due to its toxic properties.

The old man looked at Zeke with a confident expression.

“This is my masterpiece! Even a Draker won’t be able to handle it!”

The chimera slowly approached Zeke.

Zeke used the Dragon’s Dignity skill, which is effective against magical beasts.

The chimera flinched in surprise at that moment.

Then a message window appeared.

[You have induced fear in a lowly dragon descendant.]

[Unique ability Dragon Domination has activated.]

[Would you like to subjugate the target dragon descendant?]

It seemed the chimera was created using a Shark Dragon as its base, which was recognized as a dragon descendant.

Zeke chose to subjugate it.

[You have subjugated a lowly dragon descendant.]

Zeke’s unique ability appeared to have worked.

The chimera growled softly while looking at Zeke.

Unlike before, its eyes now held a mix of fear and respect.

Zeke spoke to the chimera.

“Bite him.”

As soon as the order was given, the chimera turned and rushed quickly toward the old man.

The old man was startled when the chimera suddenly charged at him.

“Argh! Not me, but him…!”

Unable to properly use magic due to Zeke’s magic reflection, the old man died instantly when the chimera bit his neck.

Thinking it was handled easier than expected, Zeke searched the dead wizard’s robe.

He found a registration card showing the wizard’s identity and other belongings.

“Gurab Al Rummani? This guy was the second-in-command of the Scorpion Clan or something.”

It was an anticlimactic death for the second-in-command of an infamous black magic clan.

Originally, the Scorpion Clan wizards mainly used magic effective for multiple battles or assassinations.

They were skilled at striking first, and usually traveled with many guards, but since this was a secret laboratory where security was important, it seemed only wizards were present.

Zeke gathered all of Gurab’s belongings before burning the corpse like before.

The chimera, watching Zeke, seemed to judge that the situation was over and came to nuzzle against him.

As Zeke was contemplating its somewhat cute behavior, a message appeared before his eyes.

[Would you like to give a name to the subjugated dragon descendant? Named dragon descendants can be summoned at any time at the ability user’s call.]

After some thought, Zeke gave the chimera a name.

“Since the original master was named Gurab, let’s call you Gurab.”

Gurab didn’t seem to like its name very much.

But what was done was done.

The chimera, registered as Gurab, dissolved into sand and disappeared into Zeke’s shadow.

[Registering summon Gurab.]

It meant he had gained an unexpected subordinate.

After thoroughly taking care of even the chimera, Zeke finally left the dungeon leisurely.

Afterwards, Zeke spent ten days evading the Favela Cartel’s pursuit and returned to Mekein Cartel territory.

He returned to Don Juan’s mansion and met with Don Juan.

“Truly amazing. Amazing.”

Don Juan admired Zeke standing before him while holding a cigar.

“Would you like a drink, Zeke Murray?”

“I’m fine.”

Don Juan stood up and spoke while looking at Zeke.

“To be honest, I thought you wouldn’t succeed in this mission.”

“I don’t make promises I can’t keep.”

“Yes, you’ve certainly proven those words. It’s hard to find someone so trustworthy these days.”

“Then will you believe what I say now?”

Don Juan nodded.

“A brave warrior deserves respect. I’ve always cherished and valued warriors like my own children. I’d like you to know that.”

Zeke inwardly mocked Don Juan’s words.

‘What bullshit.’

At least a few thousand people must have died as sacrificial pawns in the Mekein Cartel.

Since Zeke knew the cruel nature of cartels all too well, Don Juan’s polite words only sounded ridiculous to him.

Don Juan patted Zeke’s shoulder and said:

“Zeke Murray, I prepared this as proof of that trust.”

Then Don Juan brought a box from the desk and handed it to Zeke.

Just from the size and weight of the box, Zeke could guess what was inside.

When he opened the box, it was exactly as expected.

‘The Syndicate chairman’s head.’

Glancing around, Zeke saw there were five more boxes.

There had been six executives who came to Mekein to celebrate Don Juan’s birthday.

“Do you like the gift?”

Zeke closed the box and nodded.

“The boss’ trust. I saw it clearly.”

At that, Don Juan gave a satisfied smile.

Then he slowly walked back to his chair and put on a serious expression.

“But you know what? There’s one problem.”

“What kind of problem do you mean?”

“It seems the Favela Cartel has noticed that we attacked them. They’re spouting nonsense about us mobilizing knights and magicians from the Central Continent.”

It seemed the Favela side had taken the bait that Zeke had scattered around.

Don Juan said to Zeke.

“Zeke Murray. I want to give those filthy pirates a more definitive warning. That the Mekein Cartel is the master of this Southern Continent.”

Hearing Don Juan’s words, Zeke nodded.

“I will go to Favela and deliver the boss’ will.”

“What? Really?”

Although he had been thinking of pushing in that direction, Don Juan was surprised when Zeke volunteered to go to Favela first.

He hadn’t expected Zeke to volunteer for the infiltration.

Zeke said to Don Juan.

“In exchange, please support Kei. So that she can properly handle the vacancy in the Syndicate.”

Don Juan nodded at those words.

“Yes, we’ll need to sort things out on that side too if we want to properly deliver our goods.”

“With the boss’ help, the noise in the Syndicate will quickly disappear as well.”

Don Juan nodded.

“Good. Zeke Murray, I will take responsibility and become her guardian.”

Then he clapped his hands.

Suddenly, someone slipped out from what had appeared to be an empty wall.

A man in an old military uniform with slicked-back hair and an eye patch.

Zeke knew him too.

‘Simon Zapatero.’

He was one of the top hitmen in the Mekein Cartel and a famous outlaw in the border region of the Southern Continent.

Don Juan patted Simon’s shoulder and said.

“I’ll assign you the cartel’s best hitman and his unit. They’ll be a great help for this mission.”

Simon maintained an expressionless face and just slightly nodded toward Zeke.

In his previous life, Zeke had a connection with Simon.

He was none other than the one who had taught Zeke the Southern style of martial arts and assassination techniques.

Zeke said to Don Juan.

“I will head toward Favela as soon as the unit is ready.”

“Right away?”

“The longer we wait, the thicker Favela’s defense line will become.”

Don Juan nodded at those words.

“Good. Simon, make sure you complete your mission successfully.”

Simon again responded to Don Juan’s words with just a slight nod.

Zeke watched Don Juan and inwardly gave a sharp smile.

‘Don Juan, you will gradually sink into the swamp. Without even realizing it.’

* * *

Thud! Thud!

Someone walked into the completely burned dungeon.

A man with red hair flowing like a lion’s mane.

It was Abel Draker, the knight known throughout the continent by the alias Lion Sword.

He bent down to carefully examine the traces of burning.

William, the heir to the House of Jiemens, appeared behind Abel.

“Abel. The investigation is already complete. The Imperial Intelligence Bureau has thoroughly searched it. There’s nothing more to see.”

Abel headed somewhere without responding.

He looked for minute traces left on the floor and walls, piecing them together in his mind.

Then he slowly spoke.

“There was only one person here, William.”

William was shocked at those words.

“What are you saying? One person? At least a unit of magicians and knights must have…”

“No, it’s clear. At least Red Knights or higher were fighting here.”

“What? A Red Knight in this southern backwater? Impossible.”

William looked at Abel in disbelief.

Abel picked up some blackened soil and slowly stood up.

“There are traces left of the Intelligence Bureau rushing to clean up. It means something we don’t know about is secretly progressing in the Empire.”

He sprinkled the soil he was holding back onto the ground.

Abel said to William.

“We need to find out what the Imperial Intelligence Bureau is hiding.”

“You’re going to investigate the Intelligence Bureau? How will you deal with the consequences?”

His eyes flashing, he said.

“There was something here that we can’t afford to miss. My instincts are telling me, William.”

Abel said while looking at the traces left on the floor.

“If I want to hold both the Empire and the Drakers in my hand, that is.”
