Chapter 175
Powerful force whirled around the boy’s body.
RUMBLE!
Simultaneously, Zeke felt a violent force that seemed like it would tear his body apart.
‘Is this a Bloodline ability?.’
It felt completely different from Dario or Visco’s power.
Since the system didn’t detect this power as a curse, it seemed blood abilities came in various types.
Zeke took a step forward while enduring the unprecedented power the boy unleashed.
Then he pointed his sword at the boy.
Zeke unleashed a field of golden Aura.
RUMBLE!
Strong gravity acted on where the boy was.
CRASH!
The ground around the boy was crushed under enormous pressure, but the boy remained unaffected and stretched out his hand while shouting.
“Ha! Is that all you got? Try harder, monster!”
Even stronger power whirled from the boy’s body.
The boy who pushed back the gravitational force Zeke summoned gradually approached.
The boy stretched his hand toward Zeke.
“CRUMPLE!”
BOOM!
It felt like something was roughly crushing Zeke’s body from all directions.
Fortunately, wearing Theia’s Hersion, Zeke could withstand the boy’s power without being affected.
‘To show this much power with a Bloodline ability.’
He could feel the Nostra Family’s hidden strength.
The boy frowned as Zeke endured his power.
Then he slowly began to clench his fist.
CRACK!
Strong pressure was felt around Zeke’s body.
It felt like a giant was gripping Zeke tightly with both hands and squeezing.
RUMBLE!
Thanks to Theia’s Hersion and the Dragon Scale Armor skill, Zeke could withstand the strongly pressing pressure this time too.
But the boy seemed to have absolute faith in his power as he smiled viciously while looking at Zeke.
‘I’ll shatter that expectation.’
Zeke activated the Dragon’s Claw skill toward the boy.
SLASH!
Three streaks of wounds were carved into the boy’s body.
“URGH!”
The boy who had been careless was wounded from chest to side by the skill.
The boy clutched his dripping wound and stepped back.
“You bastard, How dare you……?”
As if unable to believe he was wounded, the boy glared at Zeke while backing away.
Then suddenly his eyes began turning red.
CRACKLE!
Nearby stones slowly floated into the air. Due to the power waves, the stones began spinning violently in place.
Soon the boy pointed at Zeke.
“Die!”
Hundreds of floating stones spun and flew at Zeke.
THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD!
The stones flew endlessly toward Zeke.
From the consecutive stone collisions, dust clouds rose thickly where Zeke had been.
“Haa. Haa.”
Perhaps from using excessive power, the boy descended to the ground while breathing heavily.
Where Zeke had been was deeply cratered as if a meteor had struck.
The boy looked at the scene and grinned.
“A mere monster. How dare you challenge Lord Zion?!.”
Zion straightened up and looked around.
“Broke everything again. I’ll get scolded this time too. Whatever.”
He slowly floated up into the air.
Then he stretched his hand toward the farmhouse where Zeke’s group had been hiding.
When the boy flipped his palm, the farmhouse completely crumpled and began collapsing.
“This should have killed them all.”
Zion shot up into the air again and flew off somewhere.
A while after the boy disappeared, the ground underneath stirred.
Returned to his original form, Zeke dusted himself off and got up while looking around.
He tilted his head looking at the collapsed farmhouse.
“For his skill level, the cleanup is too sloppy.”
A professional would have gone in to confirm enemy or hostage corpses and erased all traces.
But the boy called Zion just collapsed the farmhouse and left thinking everyone was dead without any such process.
Zeke guessed he was like a secret weapon in the Nostra Family only deployed for special tasks.
‘Since other members usually handle cleanup, he probably never felt the need to be thorough.’
If so, other Nostra Family members could soon storm in.
Zeke raised pure flames and burned the destroyed house.
WHOOSH!
After burning all traces of his group and Dario’s presence, he summoned Bucephalus and headed toward the bunker where Boris was hiding.
* * *
‘PHEW.’
Hiding in the bunker prepared in the mountains, Boris sharpened his senses and watched for enemies outside.
He could sense some soldiers moving about the mountain, but they passed by without discovering the bunker and went elsewhere.
That’s when.
‘Someone’s approaching.’
Boris tensed and signaled to Visco.
Visco held a dagger and grabbed Dario.
If they couldn’t escape, they had to kill Dario and commit suicide.
Better to take their own lives than be captured by enemies and suffer torture.
While the two were tense, they heard the signal identifying an ally.
Through the periscope installed inside the bunker, Boris confirmed Zeke had arrived.
Only then did he relax and open the door.
“Boss.”
Zeke entered the bunker and patted Boris’s shoulder.
“Good work, Boris.”
He wandered around for two days, leaving traces to lead the pursuit team elsewhere.
The pursuers had turned towards the eastern region after seeing the traces Zeke had left.
Zeke sat down, catching his breath while eating water and dried food.
After taking a brief rest, he looked at Dario who was tied up in the corner.
“How is Dario doing?”
“No health issues. He was causing trouble when he learned about the rescue team, but he’s been behaving since yesterday.”
Zeke got up and went towards Dario.
Dario flinched and trembled as Zeke approached.
Zeke removed Dario’s gag and said.
“Nostra Family sent an interesting fellow. There was someone who looked around early teens, wearing shorts and a suit, with Bloodline ability to move objects. He called himself Zion. Who is he?”
Dario’s eyes darted quickly.
When Zeke raised his hand, Dario spoke in terror.
“I-I’ll talk!”
“Who is that kid?”
Dario hesitated before speaking.
“S-Six.”
“Six?”
Dario nodded.
“He’s one of six special Bloodline ability users created by the Family.”
“There are six of them like that?”
“Y-yes.”
Zeke rested his chin in thought.
Zion’s ability was at least comparable to the Red Knight’s power.
Having five more like him meant the Nostra Family possessed nation-level power.
‘And then there’s the Knight of Scorpio Palace too.’
For a mafia, they had roots across the continent and were committing all sorts of crimes.
Zeke said to Dario.
“That Zion guy destroyed the entire safe house before leaving. Seems like orders came from above to eliminate you.”
“That can’t be…”
Dario looked up at Zeke with disbelief.
Zeke shook his head nonchalantly.
“No use looking at me like that. I’m telling you the truth.”
Though an enemy, Zeke had tortured him to near death but kept him alive and healthy after interrogation using healing potions. Yet the Family had deployed a special ability user just to kill him.
Zeke asked Dario.
“Why would they use a special ability user to kill you? Do you know some critical information about the organization?”
Then Dario, wearing an uncharacteristically hurt expression, gritted his teeth and said.
“I cannot say.”
Zeke understood what that meant from the nuance of Dario’s words.
‘Seems like there’s some kind of seal.’
The members of the abyss also had seals preventing information disclosure.
That’s why there were limits to obtaining information even when capturing Abyss mages.
Zeke said while looking at Dario.
“To even place a seal… You must know the identity of the supreme boss.”
Dario’s face turned white at Zeke’s words.
That reaction alone confirmed Zeke’s thoughts.
‘Placing seals even on Family bosses to hide identity? What kind of person is this supreme boss?’
They seemed to be an obsessively thorough person.
Zeke got up and approached Boris.
“We move when the sun sets. I’ve prepared a boat by the river past the mountain.”
“Understood, boss.”
Then Zeke whispered quietly to Boris.
“Seems like information keeps leaking. Stay alert since enemies could appear anywhere, anytime.”
Boris nodded at Zeke’s words.
Boris had been suspicious about this too. No matter how quick Jiemens’ intelligence was, it was impossible for the knights to raid the safe house where Dario was hidden this quickly.
Having an internal traitor was almost certain.
As soon as it got dark, Zeke led them over the mountain towards the river.
The pursuit team had already moved east, so no enemies were visible on the mountain.
They needed to cross the mountain and reach the river before sunrise.
“HUFF. HUFF.”
Just following behind Zeke and Boris who took turns carrying Dario up the mountain made Visco feel like his heart would burst.
‘They’re monsters.’
Though Visco was prepared to do anything to survive, he never imagined being in this situation.
He gritted his teeth and kept up with Zeke and Boris.
* * *
“I see the boat.”
Zeke enhanced his vision to confirm the boat’s location from within the forest.
As he was about to head towards the boat, Zeke raised his hand signaling to stop.
He had detected strange movement inside the boat.
“What’s wrong, boss?”
Zeke frowned.
“Seems like the imperial bastards found and occupied the boat.”
They had planned to take the boat upstream to Mycenae, but the imperial knights had already set up an ambush and were waiting.
Even if they recaptured the boat and went upstream, it was obvious the imperial army would be blocking the waterway above.
Boris asked Zeke.
“What will you do?”
“Change of plans.”
Zeke quickly organized his thoughts and drew his sword.
“Boris, you take Dario to Mycenae as planned. Visco, you’re coming with me to seize the boat. I’ll take the boat upstream to lure them away.”
Boris nodded after hearing Zeke’s words.
“Understood, boss.”
Boris immediately dragged Dario and climbed back up the mountain.
If they crossed the mountain and got horses from a civilian house, it would take two days to reach Mycenae. Since the pursuers seemed to be split between those chasing eastward and those waiting on the ship, if they could just lure these ones away, the two could make it to Mycenae without issue.
Zeke gestured to Visco.
“Visco, we’re going to throw them into confusion. Prepare the blood.”
“Yes, boss!”
The two men moved stealthily down the mountain.
* * *
As Zeke predicted, it was the Imperial Army occupying the ship.
Imperial garrison troops dispatched from the surrounding area at Jiemens request were hiding inside the ship, waiting.
One of the knights yawned loudly, smacking his lips in apparent boredom.
Then he spoke to his colleague beside him.
“But is this really the vampires’ doing?”
“They say a lich kidnapped that rich guy. Who else but vampires could handle monsters like liches?”
“Damn, why are we being mobilized for these damn mafia fights..?Damn.”
The complaining knight got up from his seat.
His colleague looked at him and said.
“Hey, where are you going? Didn’t you hear we’re supposed to stay at our posts?”
“Going to take a leak. A leak. Can’t do it in the chamber pot when nothing’s coming out.”
“Don’t blame me if the squad leader scolds you.”
“Whatever. They all went back east anyway.”
The knight came up to the deck and stood there, directing a stream of urine toward the river.
“Ahh. That’s better. Huh? Why is there so much fog? Was it like this before?”
The knight finished urinating and adjusted his pants.
But the fog had gotten thicker than before.
“Huh? What’s this?”
The knight rubbed his eyes and looked ahead.
Then something appeared in the fog.
CREEEEAK!
A worn-out ship slowly approached. It had an equally worn flag.
The knight confirmed the ship’s flag and nearly fainted in shock.
A flag with a skull drawn on it.
The ship was full of countless skeletons and horrific monsters.
Seeing this sight, the knight stepped back in terror and shouted.
“G-ghost ship! A ghost ship has appeared!”
