Chapter 283
‘Immortal Creation Experiment?’
Havi West’s experiments were mostly related to resurrection, revival, and human body enhancement.
‘Was the crazy Havi’s goal to create immortals?’
Zeke tried to access Havi West’s experimental documents but was restricted from viewing them, just like in Richmond.
‘Damn… Come to think of it, if I had found all three sacred relics, I could have received the title from Hoshgar.’
If all three sacred relics were found, the quest reward would grant the title of Great Archmage’s Blessing.
By obtaining that title, he might have been able to acquire administrator rights to the Infinite Tower.
‘I should investigate more about Havi West.’
The next day, Zeke left the Nirvana Central Branch and resumed his journey for his next plan.
Before finding the Druids of Aten, he wanted to go to the Chronos Temple to activate his mother’s watch.
Zeke went to find the temple’s location marked on the map to update his authentication key.
The coordinates on the map pointed to a location in Aten’s city center.
When he reached the coordinates, surprisingly, there was a museum.
‘A Chronos Temple in a museum?’
Thinking about it, the Dragon Slayer’s Sanctuary was beneath the Academy Library, and the Valhalla Library had a security vault’s authentication key, so a temple in a museum wasn’t that strange.
Zeke slowly entered the museum.
Aten was a city located on the eastern peninsula of the northern continent, which had maintained autonomous rights as a principality even before the Holy Empire.
Therefore, Aten’s history was incredibly long, and its citizens took great pride in it.
The museum was designed to provide a comprehensive view of Aten’s extensive history.
Zeke wandered around the museum, trying to find a path to the Chronos Temple.
‘I thought the system would connect, but nothing is responding.’
He checked from the upper floors to the lower floors, underground, and even the adjacent restaurant and souvenir shop, but got no reaction.
As a result, despite spending the entire day in the museum, he couldn’t find the temple’s entrance.
By the time the museum was closing, he had made no progress.
“I thought finding the authentication key would be quick, but I’m stuck here.”
He double-checked the coordinates, but they definitely pointed to this museum.
Zeke took out his watch in frustration.
The watch remained motionless, frozen in place.
‘What kind of reaction would happen if I activate this?’
Just like when he first activated the watch, Zeke dropped a few drops of blood in the museum lobby’s corner.
At that moment, a security guard approached him.
“Museum closing time! Please exit, visitor!”
Zeke reluctantly decided he would return tomorrow.
Then, a message suddenly appeared before his eyes.
[Confirm Designated Coordinates]
[Temporary Operation Started]
[Moving to Predetermined Spacetime Coordinates]
Surprised, Zeke looked around and saw the approaching security guard had frozen, completely stiff.
When he went closer and pressed the guard, it was as hard as touching a statue.
“Could time have stopped?”
At that moment, his watch flashed brightly.
Simultaneously, the watch hands began spinning backward.
‘What’s happening?’
WHOOOOOOSH!
As the watch hands spun faster, the surroundings started moving.
But it wasn’t a normal movement, everything was flowing in reverse.
Zeke remained stationary while the time around him rapidly reversed.
“My God…”
Zeke had vaguely thought Chronos’s power was related to ‘prophecy’.
However, the ability contained in the watch was directly manipulating time itself.
As time quickly reversed, the museum transformed back to its state before opening.
The spinning watch hands gradually slowed and then stopped.
DRIP!
A water droplet fell from the ceiling in front of Zeke.
He stared blankly at the completely transformed surrounding landscape.
‘Is this some kind of 3D video?’
Zeke used his Dragon Eye to scan the area. Surprisingly, this wasn’t a 3D video but actual reality.
He had been transported to decades before the museum’s establishment.
Zeke exited the museum with an unbelievable expression.
Looking outside, he saw the cityscape of Aten from decades ago.
‘Crazy, traveling back in time. What kind of ability is this..’?!
Startled, Zeke tried to walk toward the city center but couldn’t proceed further as if blocked.
[Cannot exceed the permitted time line’s area range.]
[Forcibly crossing the time line’s area range may result in existence being eliminated due to karma’s restrictions.]
As a power that handles time, it seemed to have limitations.
‘If I cross this range, I could be eliminated. Well, if I wandered the continent in this time period talking about future events, the flow of time would get tangled.’
It seemed karma was serving as a safety mechanism to prevent such occurrences.
Zeke once again felt the scale of karma’s power, which also governed time lines, and recalled Blanca, the golden city where he had held Hades.
‘This means the ultra-ancient civilization could freely use such karma. At this point, it’s not about what they could do, but what they couldn’t do that’s more intriguing.’
The reason why the ultra-ancient civilization that used karma’s power suddenly disappeared was also a mystery.
The scripture stated that the Creator destroyed cities as severe punishment for humans who had become too corrupt.
Since it was a scripture created by the church during the Holy Empire era, Zeke couldn’t be sure how much was true, but knowing various untold stories, he could only speculate that it might be related to the constellations.
‘If Arina, a descendant of Lubern, were here, she might know something. I’ll ask her next time we meet.’
Zeke re-entered the museum and turned on the coordinates, searching for the temple’s entrance.
If the watch had brought him to the past, he thought the temple might exist in this time period.
But as expected, the system still couldn’t find the entrance to the Chronos Temple.
‘What’s going on.’
While Zeke was pondering, he sensed movement behind him.
He concealed himself and observed who had appeared.
As Zeke disappeared, a black figure in a robe slowly emerged in the museum lobby.
‘Seems to be a woman. Possibly a mage.’
She didn’t look like a museum worker.
Just as Zeke was warily observing this suspicious figure in the not-yet-opened museum, something suddenly flew past him.
THWACK!
An arrow embedded itself next to the pillar where Zeke was hiding.
He rolled backward to dodge.
‘Did they detect my concealment?’
Only the Narak’s magic eye could pierce his concealment.
Thinking these might be past Narak mages, Zeke drew his dagger and moved swiftly.
WHOOSH!
His initial plan was to capture and interrogate the female mage to understand their identity.
Just as Zeke approached the female mage, the empty space suddenly rippled, and a black figure appeared.
A black-robed individual wearing a black mask swung a sword at Zeke.
CLANG!
A short, misshapen sword clashed with Zeke’s dagger.
WHOOSH!
Zeke threw his dagger while retreating.
PING!
The black-robed figure caught the dagger with another hand.
The dual-wielding black-robed figure took a defensive stance against Zeke.
‘Not an ordinary opponent. From their movements… possibly a Northern Ranger.’
Zeke drew Anexi’s daggers in both hands and prepared.
Suddenly, the black-robed figure threw their dual swords into the air, spun, and launched hidden weapons at Zeke.
Zeke deflected the hidden weapons with his dagger and slid forward.
He intended to capture the female mage, seeing the black-robed figure was protecting her.
The black-robed figure quickly lifted her into the air, reclaimed their swords mid-air, and dove toward Zeke with agile movements.
CRASH!
Zeke parried the diving sword with his dagger and threw the soul chain toward the figure.
WHOOSH!
The soul chain flew like a snake to entangle the black-robed figure.
But like before, the figure’s surroundings rippled, and they instantly vanished and reappeared behind Zeke.
SWISH!
Zeke received the sword strike on his back.
CLANG!
He activated the dragon scale armor, deflecting the sword with the dragon’s tough skin.
As the surprised black-robed figure retreated, Zeke didn’t miss the opportunity and activated the dragon’s claws.
SWOOSH!
The dragon’s claws slashed across the black-robed figure’s chest.
The figure stepped back, bleeding.
Then.
WHOOOOSH!
The female mage, who had been watching the battle, cast a spell.
White light rose from her body.
‘A light spell?’
But just as Zeke tried to dodge, the mage extended her hand and threw light toward the black-robed figure.
‘What?’
Zeke was confused, seeing her cast light on her own ally.
Surprisingly, the black-robed figure completely recovered after being hit by the light.
Zeke was stunned.
‘Is that healing?’
It looked like Lubern’s light magic healing, but with significantly amplified effects.
‘Using light magic, could she be from the Lubern clan?’
The mage extended her hand toward the bewildered Zeke and muttered,
“Debuff.”
Zeke felt his body growing heavy.
He remembered a similar sensation from before – like when skills were restricted in the inverted tower.
‘My infinite stamina is gone. Healing factor too.’
Zeke dodged the black-robed figure’s attack with an aerial somersault.
The mage was surprised by his continued mobility.
‘He was definitely debuffed. Why is he still moving?’
She signaled, and another arrow flew at Zeke.
SWISH!
Zeke deflected it with Anexi’s dagger.
Their coordination was precise.
‘They’re testing me, and I’m falling for it.’
Zeke sheathed Anexi’s dagger and drew Bahamut.
As he gripped the sword, the surrounding air changed.
The mage tensed and activated her magic, causing the black-robed figure to flash with light.
“Don’t kill. Capture him,” she ordered.
The figure nodded and approached Zeke with dual swords, now buffed with enhanced senses, stamina, and recovery.
Yet, standing before Zeke’s sword, the figure froze.
Zeke took one step forward.
THUD!
The step’s pressure made the figure retreat.
Sweat covered their face behind the mask.
Zeke aimed his sword, an invisible astral sword’s domain enveloping the black-robed figure, the mage, and a hidden archer – trapping them.
The figure, hand trembling, told the mage,
“Miss, escape while I hold him off.”
His voice suggested he was prepared to die.
The mage shouted back,
“Don’t be ridiculous!”
Zeke addressed them,
“Stop resisting.”
The figure tensed further and said to the mage,
“Remove your hood and show your face.”
She ground her teeth, muttering,
“As expected… he’s someone sent from Narak.”
She mistakenly believed Zeke was from Narak.
Zeke extended his hand and manifested the Sacred Flame Technique.
WHOOSH!
Seeing this top-tier light magic, the mage was shocked.
“Th-that…”
Zeke told her,
“I’m not from Narak. Now that I’ve revealed myself, show your face.”
Hesitating, she slowly removed her robe.
When Zeke saw her face, he felt his heart nearly stop.
She then spoke.
My name is Laura Agamemnon,.
I’m the Eastern Branch Director of the Dawn Association.”
