Chapter 25
Zeke rushed to Gelion’s forge as soon as he received the message.
“Gelion!”
Entering the forge, he found an exhausted Gelion weakly greeting him in front of the magic furnace.
“My lord… you’ve come.”
Zeke was startled seeing Gelion nearly half-dead.
Even when creating the Sun Sword Gram in his past life, Gelion hadn’t looked this bad.
‘Did he fail?’
An unnecessary anxiety crept in.
Suppressing his impatience, Zeke asked Gelion as calmly as possible.
“Is the sword complete?”
Gelion nodded.
Zeke let out a sigh of relief.
Gelion struggled to stand and brought something from inside.
Soon, he placed a wooden box containing a cloth-covered sword in front of Zeke.
Zeke slowly lowered the cloth and examined the sword.
“Huh?”
Zeke was momentarily confused seeing the sword in the box.
Its appearance was too different from the Sun Sword Gram he knew.
The Sun Sword Gram was a masterpiece with coiled snake patterns engraved on its blade.
But the sword before him was entirely black with the handle and blade fused as one piece.
The strangest thing was something else.
“Why isn’t the blade sharpened?”
A sword should be sharp.
But the blade before him wasn’t sharpened at all and was blunt.
It seemed it couldn’t even cut grass.
Gelion spoke beside him while sweating.
“That sword… is meant to be that way.”
Hearing Gelion’s cryptic answer, Zeke turned to him and said.
“You mean… this form best suits me?”
At Zeke’s words, Gelion nodded vigorously with a moved expression.
“Indeed…! You are different, my lord. If it were another noble, they would have dragged me out for a beating by now. But… this was the form of sword that best suited you when I looked into your essence.”
A plain sword with a blunt blade and dark surface, lacking any decoration.
If this sword were in a weapon shop, no one would want to buy it.
‘Why did it turn out so different from Gram in my past life? Is it because of using the dragon’s tooth as material?’
Gram was also made by mixing precious mithril and pure iron.
Maintaining his composure, Zeke asked Gelion.
“…So what is this sword’s name?”
Gelion shook his head.
“I couldn’t name this sword.”
The Sun Sword Gram was named by Gelion, not Zeke.
Zeke had to accept that this sword was completely different from Gram.
“You mean I must name it.”
“That is correct for this sword.”
If the Soul Blacksmith Gelion said so, the sword was clearly made to be that way.
Zeke nodded.
Then he rolled up his sleeve.
He concentrated mana in the water element, imbued it with the will of the ceremony, and cut his wrist.
Drip!
Blood flowed from Zeke’s wrist as he forcibly suppressed his Healing Factor.
Drops of blood fell and stained the blade.
Gelion eyes widened in shock.
‘To think he knows the sword naming ceremony procedure. He truly is no ordinary person.’
The sword naming ceremony was exactly what it sounded like – a ritual to bestow a name upon a sword.
It originated from an ancient tradition of dwarves, known as the blacksmith race, but was so old that even many blacksmiths were unaware of it.
After letting his blood fall on the sword, Zeke placed his hand on the blade.
He closed his eyes and quietly descended into his inner self.
He tried to fish out a name from the abyss to give to his new sword, different from the Sun Sword Gram.
From the depths of his mind, countless names drifted, but one stood out and called to him.
THUMP! THUMP!
Zeke’s heart beat strongly.
He opened his eyes.
“Black Sword Bahamut. I bestow this name upon you.”
WHOOSH!
When Zeke bestowed the name, the sword vibrated strongly.
At the same time, Zeke’s blood on the blade surface was absorbed into the sword.
Whoosh!
The crest on Zeke’s solar plexus began resonating with the sword.
The sword rose by itself.
Zeke reached out and grabbed Bahamut’s handle.
[Black Sword Bahamut has been registered as equipment.]
[Unlocked Black Sword Bahamut’s abilities.]
[Sealing Black Sword Bahamut’s abilities according to user’s stats.]
[Black Sword Bahamut will grow along with the user’s growth.]
Reading the floating text, Zeke was shocked at the part about Bahamut being able to grow.
He had thought growing weapons only existed in legends.
Even the Sun Sword Gram, while a masterpiece, wasn’t a weapon capable of growth.
As Zeke was surprised, Bahamut’s information window appeared before him.
―Black Sword Bahamut Information―
Description: A sword forged from the hardest fang of the cursed dragon Bahamut by a skilled craftsman with Soul eyes using magical blue flames.
Unique Abilities: Indestructible, Aura Conversion
Special Note: Sealed state (seals released in stages according to user’s growth)
‘’Unique ability is indestructible?’’
Though it was made from a dragon’s tooth, he hadn’t expected an indestructible sword could be created.
In the past, Gram would sometimes get damaged during battles, and whenever that happened, Zeke would bring it to Gelion for repairs.
However, with Bahamut’s indestructible characteristic, it seemed there would be no need to worry about it breaking or getting damaged.
But more than that, Zeke swallowed hard when he saw the unique ability of aura conversion.
He raised his mana and focused on Bahamut.
Woong!
It was a similar sensation to when he held Gram.
Zeke converted the condensed mana into aura.
Swoosh!
The invisible mana transformed into a vivid aura.
Gelion, who was watching this, was startled.
“Oh, aura.”
Seeing the vivid aura wrapping around Zeke’s sword, Gelion wore an expression of disbelief.
Being able to create vivid aura meant that Zeke was at least a Purple Knight rank or higher.
Zeke spoke to Gelion.
“Gelion, may I test the sword?”
“Of-of course, my lord.”
Zeke picked up a failed sword that was piled in one corner of the smithy and threw it into the air.
His aura-imbued sword moved quickly.
Thud thud thud!
It instantly fell to the ground in ten pieces.
Though it was called a failure, it was an incredibly hard sword made of pure iron.
Gelion’s jaw dropped at seeing the technique of cutting it with a sword that didn’t even have a edge.
Zeke repeatedly threw other broken swords into the air and cut them with Bahamut.
He could feel himself becoming more familiar with Bahamut.
Only after cutting ten swords into pieces did Zeke put away his sword.
Zeke stared at Gelion anew.
‘’Really, he made an impossible sword.’’
Every time he swung it, the sword felt like it was sticking to his hand.
The Sun Sword Gram was good, but it was nothing compared to Bahamut.
Though its appearance was extremely crude, it was a masterpiece among masterpieces that would never exist again in this world.
“You really worked hard, Gelion.”
Zeke took out the things he had brought separately for Gelion.
There were precious raw stones that he had brought from the Dragon Slayer’s tomb.
“My-my lord. The furnace you gave me is more than enough.”
“Take them. I brought them along since I might have things to ask of you later, so don’t feel burdened.”
Compared to Gelion’s efforts in making this legendary sword, this was nothing.
Gelion’s eyes welled up with tears at Zeke’s sincerity.
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he asked them to wait a moment and ran inside to bring something out.
What Gelion brought out was none other than a scabbard.
“What is this, Gelion?”
“This is something my master made before. I would like to give it to you, my lord.”
“Your master?”
Even in his past life, he had never heard Gelion speak about his master.
Surprised inwardly, he examined the scabbard Gelion handed him.
There was a name written in Dwarvish on the scabbard.
“Golin Yober? Golin – could it be that Golin?”
Zeke was surprised to learn that Gelion’s master was the famous dwarf blacksmith Golin, and Gelion was surprised that Zeke could read Dwarvish.
Seeing Gelion nod, Zeke said.
“Is it really alright to give me something so precious?”
“Of course, my lord. Though it’s nothing compared to the grace you’ve shown me…”
The dwarf blacksmith Golin was skilled at making wondrous things using intricate mechanical devices.
Among collectors, there were even those willing to pay tens of thousands of gold for anything made by Golin.
“I’ve received a very precious gift.”
“I’m glad you like it, my lord. Let me show you how to use the scabbard.”
“The scabbard has special instructions? Ah, of course, since Golin made it, it must be different.”
Gelion grabbed the scabbard and quickly turned the dial on the side.
Suddenly the scabbard spread open and transformed into a shield that could cover half of one’s body.
“Good heavens.”
Zeke was startled to see the scabbard transform into a shield.
Unlike regular shields, it wasn’t very heavy.
“It’s made using mithril, wyvern bone, and basilisk leather, so it’s light but far more durable than iron shields.”
When Gelion turned the dial again, the shield returned to its original scabbard shape.
Though he didn’t understand the principle behind it, it would undoubtedly be very useful in battle.
“Thank you, Gelion.”
Zeke sheathed Bahamut in the scabbard he received from Gelion.
It fitted perfectly with Bahamut’s claymore form.
Gelion watched with satisfaction as Zeke wore Bahamut.
* * *
After leaving Gelion’s Blacksmiths shop, Zeke returned to his private training ground to resume the point calculations he hadn’t finished.
Zeke decided to first open the random boxes he had been given.
He took out two random boxes from his inventory and placed them on the training ground floor.
The random boxes were similar to the sealed boxes found in dungeons.
“Well, let’s see what’s inside.”
He muttered happily as he opened the random box on the left first.
“What’s this?”
Inside the box was a gauntlet.
Zeke examined the gauntlet’s information with his dragon eyes.
―Gauntlet Information―
Description: A gauntlet made of cloud iron that is both sturdy and light
Unique Ability: None
Special Note: Unique ability activates when the full cloud iron set is assembled
Zeke tried the gauntlet on his hand.
Though light in weight, it felt sturdy enough to be useful.
“Not a bad start.”
Zeke opened the random box beside him.
Surprisingly, what came out of the second box was a single sheet of paper.
“What is this?”
Zeke took the paper out of the box.
Then the system activated.
[You have discovered a map containing traces of Grandmaster Kaisir.]
[System automatically correcting damaged portions of the map.]
[Confirming location of ancient ruins.]
Seeing the automatically appearing text, Zeke muttered in surprise.
“Grandmaster Kaisir? Could it be the legendary Hero King Kaisir?”
Simultaneously, a map appeared before Zeke’s eyes.
[Location confirmation complete.]
The location shown on the map was near the Giant Mountains.
Zeke frowned upon seeing the location.
‘That’s Barbarian territory.’
Zeke had practically lived in the Giant Mountains for a time before his regression.
The Barbarian tribes, who maintained their own culture while isolated from other nations, were difficult entities to deal with.
Then another message window appeared before Zeke’s eyes.
[Tutorial ending based on user’s level.]
[Achievement quest beginning.]
―Achievement Quest Mission―
[Obtain Grandmaster Kaisir’s vision from the ruins where traces of Grandmaster Kaisir remain. (No time limit)]
[Quest Mission Reward: System Administrator Authority Promotion]
Zeke’s jaw dropped upon seeing the appearing text.
