Bastian gritted his teeth and tried to shoot his magic gun at Zeke again.

However, it seemed all the bullets were used up as nothing fired.

There was no way Jiemens would have given proper weapons to pirates.

At Zeke’s mocking question, Bastian threw away the magic gun he was holding and shouted to his subordinates.

“Kill that bastard!”

The pirates rushed at Zeke with their weapons.

Ghost soldiers that were hiding in the pirates’ shadows jumped out and slit their throats.

Zeke slowly approached Bastian.

Zeke took out Anexi’s dagger and said.

“Don’t imagine too easily what’s about to happen now.”

Bastian’s blood-covered body returned to its original state thanks to Zeke’s healing.

However, due to the paralyzing poison and power of decay that Zeke had injected, though his body was healed, the pain remained.

Bastian moved his eyeballs frantically.

“Who gave you the orders?”

“But you must have been surprised when the Favela Cartel fell faster than expected. Since the Syndicate took over that position right away.”

Bastian nodded while swallowing.

“Y-yes. So while I was wondering what to do, the Empire came with another proposal.”

“What kind of proposal?”

Bastian swallowed hard before speaking.

“They said if I killed Kali Draker on Captain Kidd’s Treasure Island, they would pardon my crimes and allow me to seek asylum in the Empire.”

This matched Zeke’s expectations to some degree.

“Is Peter Pan’s Fishermen Pirate crew here as well?”

“I-I haven’t seen them directly, but I heard they were deployed. They’re the ones who attacked and wrecked Kali’s ship.”

“The Fishmen Pirates attacked the ship directly?”

“Yes.”

Even in his previous life, Zeke had never seen the Pirate King Peter Pan in person.

He only knew that Peter Pan had driven Kali to her death, taken over her territory of Lason, and then dominated the Central Sea.

Zeke asked Bastian.

“Bastian, have you ever met Peter Pan directly?”

Bastian shook his head.

“I-I’ve seen him. Actually, when transporting Soma for the Favela Cartel, we approached Peter Pan’s side before the Syndicate.”

“You tried to bring the Fishermen Pirates into the Cartel to handle transportation?”

“Y-yes. However… those Fishermen refused the Cartel’s demands.”

“Oh ho, that happened. With your personality, I doubt you just left them alone.”

Bastian spoke while sweating.

“Actually, I led our members to raid their base but… we couldn’t approach it.”

“Why not?”

“A huge whirlpool was blocking the front of the island, making approach impossible.”

“A huge whirlpool. You mean like the one when entering this island?”

“It was smaller in scale but similar. I heard Peter Pan can cast ancient curses.”

Hearing Bastian’s words, Zeke pondered about Peter Pan’s abilities.

‘Ancient curses. That means Peter Pan wasn’t just a simple pirate.’

Since he probably wasn’t a mage, there was a possibility he had high-level bloodline abilities like Six.

Zeke asked Bastian again.

“What were your orders?”

Bastian spoke while trembling:

“The Empire’s side said they would send encrypted messages with orders, and I just had to follow them.”

“Are you sure it was really the Empire sending those messages?”

“Th-that…”

Bastian rolled his eyes back and forth. Without hesitation, Zeke stabbed Anexi’s sword into Bastian’s thigh.

Then he used his lightning skill.

CRACKLE!

“GRRRRR!”

The pain felt like all the nerves in his body were burning up, but his body kept healing so he couldn’t even die.

Zeke asked Bastian again.

“Speak clearly. Was it really the Empire?”

“Ungh… Ji-Jiemens. It’s connected to Jiemens.”

This was the answer Zeke wanted.

“Do you have evidence of the connection to Jiemens?”

“I-I stole information from the Empire’s Intelligence Bureau. If we dealt with Kali Draker here, the Empire would support Abel Draker…”

It seemed the Empire had judged that having the pro-Empire Abel as family head would be more advantageous than Kali.

‘Consul Julius might be involved. Though they couldn’t eliminate Carus, he must be a thorn in their side since he’s in exile in Lady Kali’s territory.’

Once Kali was eliminated, removing Carus would be easy.

That’s when it happened.

“COUGH!”

Suddenly Bastian started coughing up blood and trembling.

Zeke grabbed Bastian and quickly used healing.

But it was useless.

Black fluid dripped from his seven openings.

Seeing Bastian’s reaction, Zeke recalled something.

‘The Abyss Taboo?’

He hadn’t expected such a taboo to be placed on Bastian, who wasn’t even a mage.

By then, Bastian was already dead, black fluid dripping from his body.

Zeke shuddered at Jiemens’ thoroughness.

‘They eliminate  all potential evidence with taboos.’

Zeke used his power of decay to dispose of Bastian’s and the other dead pirates’ corpses, and absorbed the monsters with Gluttony to replenish his depleted mana and mental energy.

Then he headed toward the Empire’s camp that he learned about from Bastian.

‘The Empire setting up camp here isn’t just about trapping Lady Kali.’

Though Consul Julius’s power was strong, he didn’t have the authority to move the Hounds.

Only the Emperor could command the Hounds.

And there was only one thing that interested the Emperor.

‘Ancient ruins for immortality. The Emperor must think there are ancient ruins here and dispatched the Hounds. They probably deceived them saying Captain Kidd’s treasure was ancient ruins.’

In reality, the Sea God’s treasure was hidden on this island.

Though he wasn’t sure how much the Empire knew about the Sea God’s treasure, he could guess they sent the Hounds to explore the ruins.

Following the direction Bastian had indicated, he found a massive lava cave in the center of the island.

Zeke discovered that the Empire’s Hounds had built fortifications in front of the cave.

‘These damn Hounds. How did they even find out about this place?’

Shaking his head unconsciously, Zeke sent ghost warriors to find gaps in the fortifications.

Like the Hound unit that met Bastian, Mine were stationed as guards throughout the fortifications.

‘Have they progressed enough in their Demon research to use them in actual combat?’

Just then, the fortification became noisy.

SCREECH!

The alarm sounded and the Hounds moved busily.

“Intruder in Section 14! Move quickly!”

Bastian had said the Empire divided this island into 30 sections for management. Having roughly heard how they were divided, Zeke mapped out the sections in his head.

‘Section 14… that’s where Clonne is.’

Though he had told her to avoid confrontation if possible, he had expected that with Clonne’s personality, she wouldn’t just pass by. Sure enough, it seemed a battle had broken out.

When the Hounds left with the demons, gaps appeared in the fortification’s defense.

‘Perfect.’

Zeke concealed his presence with stealth skills and entered the fortification amid the chaos.

He approached the lava cave and entered while hanging from the ceiling.

Then he used magic reflection skills to neutralize all the nearby alarm devices.

SCREECH!

When magic reflection spread, the magic lamps lighting the cave flickered.

The guards watching the cave sighed as they saw the flickering magic lamps.

“There it goes again.”

Another guard shook his head and said.

“Leave it. It’ll come back on its own.”

In that moment, Zeke used his power of shadow domination to subdue the two men’s shadows.

The guards whose shadows were subdued stood frozen in place.

Zeke quickly read their memories.

‘There’s a path leading underground inside.’

Zeke released his shadow control and slipped past the sentries, making his way deeper into the cave.

There, he found the elevator to the underground, which he had seen in their memories.

Grabbing the rope connected below, Zeke descended. The underground passage was deeper than he had expected.

Seeing the distant ground below, Zeke used Dragon’s Wings to glide smoothly through the air.

WHOOOSH!

Just before landing, his body floated slightly.

‘Good thing I unlocked this skill. It’s incredibly useful.’

He could achieve a similar effect using Wind Storm, but controlling its output was difficult when wielding his Elemental Sword, making it hard to use stealthily.

However, Dragon’s Wings allowed him to move freely in midair, making it extremely valuable.

After lightly landing underground with Dragon’s Wings, Zeke concealed himself and observed his surroundings.

The lava cave branched into multiple paths, resembling an inverted tower maze.

‘The map isn’t displaying properly, so finding my way won’t be easy.’

Even sending ghost warriors to scout had its range limitations.

After some thought, Zeke decided to use his authority—Divine Luck.

He threw a dagger and decided to follow the direction the blade pointed.

“Luck, guide me to where I can find Lady Kalli.”

He threw the dagger, but no system notification confirmed that Divine luck had activated.

Zeke tried throwing the dagger multiple times.

WHOOSH!

After several attempts, a message finally appeared.

[Divine Luck has activated.]

However, instead of pointing in a direction, the dagger lodged itself into the ceiling, causing cracks to form.

CRACK!

The ceiling partially collapsed, and pieces of lava rock tumbled down, leaving a gaping hole.

From within that hole, an eerie sound echoed.

‘That sound…?’

SCRITCH! SCRITCH! SCRITCH!

A swarm of spiders began pouring out, their bodies as black as night.

‘Damn it!’

Though not as massive as Giant Spiders, they were still the size of a child’s head, scuttling out relentlessly.

Yet, the spiders only crawled toward the middle and right paths, completely avoiding the left path.

‘Why aren’t they going left?’

If the spider monsters instinctively avoided a path, it meant something was there.

Zeke chose the left path—the one the spiders ignored.

The lava cave stretched on much longer than he had anticipated.

After walking for a while, he noticed that the floor was gradually filling with water.

Curious, he dipped his fingers into the water and tasted it.

‘Salty. So seawater has reached this far in.’

Now he understood why the spiders had avoided this area.

The deeper he went, the higher the water level rose.

Zeke hesitated momentarily, then reminded himself that this was the Sea God’s Island.

‘If anything, there might be a hidden path up ahead.’

Drinking a Whale’s Breath potion, Zeke submerged himself completely into the seawater.

Thanks to his Dragon Eyes, he could clearly see through the darkness underwater.

The submerged cave extended much deeper below.

Zeke swam forward, venturing further inside.

‘This is quite deep. A normal person wouldn’t be able to reach here.’

Just then, he sensed something.

SWISH!

He felt something trying to block his way and quickly looked around.

‘What is it?’

A powerful hostility radiated from the unknown entity, as if warning him not to proceed any further.

Zeke hesitated briefly before pushing forward.

At that moment, something in front of him began to rise.

RUMBLE!

Zeke’s eyes widened in shock at the being that now blocked his path.

‘A golem? Underwater?’
