Chapter 9: Scavenging
Multiple corpses were there as expected.
“I guess I need to recognize them before I can Store them. Storage”

“There’s a corpse with different equipment. Deploy”
Tenma chanted Deploy with the image of bringing out the corpse with the leather bag, with a feeling of “hopefully this works.” Then, a corpse appeared, showing its back. It was wearing leather armor and helmet, a leather bag, and a leather pouch, with 7 items that were coins fallen from the torn pouch.
The equipment was so dirty, damaged, and covered with moss and mold that one wouldn’t know it was leather without prior knowledge. The parchment was probably stored inside the bag. However, there were no visible fatal wounds.
Although Tenma wanted to check the contents of the bag, honestly, he didn’t feel like touching it.
“It would have been better if it were a little cleaner… That’s right, Cleanse Clean.”
Tenma chanted Cleanse Clean with the image of light purifying the dirt, moss, and other impurities.
A faint light enveloped the objects before him, and particles of light rose upward. As the light rose, the dirt and moss disappeared.
The light faded. Tenma timidly touched the surface of the bag. There was no sliminess or unpleasant sensation. The white color of the corpse stood out. The leather armor was faded in color and had cracks throughout, but otherwise was in clean condition.
He flipped open the bag’s cover and took out the parchment to examine it.
The characters written inside were blurred and unreadable, but it wasn’t in a broken state. Certainly, there were traces of insect damage here and there. However, it didn’t appear to be inconvenient to use as parchment.
Appraisal
When he appraised the parchment
“Parchment(Calf Skin)-Status: Normal”
appeared. Next, he chanted Storage and checked, and it had changed to
“Parchment: Calf Skin×1”
Tenma took out the parchment from the Subspace Storage and tilted his head.
“I knew that parchment was animal skin, so it appeared as parchment.”
Since the content couldn’t be confirmed, it showed as broken. Because it was identified as calf skin, and the condition improved with Cleanse Clean. The Broken status disappeared. Magic Iron also changed from being labeled as metal to Magic Iron.
“Is my knowledge reflected in the Storage labels?”
But copper oxide remained as copper coin
Tenma mutters while staring at the parchment.
“Well, there’s no point in overthinking it. Let’s run.”
As he said that, he Stored all the items and started running.
