Chapter 4: Try Using It. Part 1Â
Tatsuki Tenma found that his questions multiplied after he checked his status.
One was about the entity that invited him to this world. The being that gave him Protection and skills. Despite giving him skills that seemed like cheating, there was no revelation or instruction. He didn’t even know why he was invited to this world.
The second was about a world concept where there’s no Level as a status, yet skills have Level. He could imagine that skills increase in Level through experience or proficiency, but he didn’t know how to increase status values, or whether HP and MP were fixed.
The third was about Magic Skills. It only said he could use magic. He didn’t know if spells or incantations were necessary.
Finally, the existence of skills like Speech, Etiquette, and Commerce. He could understand production skills as skills in a professional sense. But Speech, Etiquette, and Commerce were things any Japanese person could do at a minimum level. The meaning behind these skills.
”Thinking about things I don’t understand won’t help me understand them. First, let’s try using skills. The standard would be Appraisal or Subspace Storage, right?”
Tatsuki Tenma abandoned thinking and tested his skills.
Appraisal
After appraising the surrounding grass, Tatsuki Tenma was stunned at the appraisal results.
“Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed……”
‘I mean, I understand they’re weeds, but isn’t there a bit more expression…’
Tatsuki Tenma had uttered Appraisal with high expectations. The result was nothing but weed. Not even valuable medicinal herbs or poisonous plants. If this were a convenient plot device, there should have been something. He had cast Appraisal, thinking there might be something of monetary value here. Then:
“Appraisal Magic level has increased!”
A voice echoed in his head.
‘Whoa! That surprised me. Is this what happens when levels increase?’
Tatsuki Tenma briefly considered whose voice it was, but quickly decided it was meaningless and checked his status.
Appraisal didn’t consume any MP, and Appraisal Magic: Level 2 was displayed.
‘Appraisal Magic doesn’t consume MP? What about other magic? Maybe I should try something else.’
