Chapter 15: Monster Subjugation Proof and Adventurers 

When the two returned, Alf introduced Tenma again.

“This is Tenma, who will be joining us suddenly. I’m counting on you all. Tenma will watch the front with me. The rest of you continue with your usual duties.”

“I’m Tenma, who will be accompanying you. Pleased to meet you.”

“I’m Leaf Archer. Thanks for the help earlier. Because of you, I could focus on backing this one up.”

Leaf pointed at Mario as she said this. Mario, being referred to, said:

“‘This one, huh? That’s a harsh way to refer to me. Once again, I’m Mario the Magician. I apologize for earlier. I’d appreciate it if you could overlook that.”

“Earlier? Did something happen?”

To Tenma, who responded with confusion to Mario’s words.

“If you didn’t notice, well, that’s that. Pleased to meet you, Tenma. What would you like to do with the subjugation proof?”

“Subjugation proof?”

“Subjugation proof is exactly what it sounds like. For Goblins, the right ear serves as proof. You’re going to Gomena to look for work, right? If you become an Adventurer, you can receive rewards for subjugation. Not only that, you can start from F-rank.”

Tenma tilted his head at the Subjugation Proof that Mario mentioned. Alf explained it to Tenma. According to Alf’s explanation, subjugating one Goblin and submitting the proof part earns one copper coin, and subjugating five Goblins alone seems to be the condition for promotion to F-rank.

After hearing the explanation, Tenma stored the Subjugation Proof in his Subspace Storage. Seeing this, Mario raised his voice in surprise.

“Whoa! You have an Item Box, Tenma?”

“Yes. Though its capacity is limited.”

“I’m envious. But that explains why you’re traveling light. Now one of Alf’s doubts has been resolved.”

“Don’t say that. But it’s strange, right? Someone who came from the direction of the Magical Forest, the Never Return Prairie, carrying only a sword. Dressed in unfamiliar clothes. It would be weird not to be suspicious.”

“I’m not blaming Alf’s judgment. But now we understand why Tenma is traveling so lightly.”

Tenma learned that he had been suspected. But what were the Magical Forest and Never Return Prairie? Believing that if you don’t understand something, it’s best to ask, he voiced his question.
