Chapter 1: Where?
He was standing in a grassland.
The pleasant breeze passing through felt good. To the right was a densely overgrown forest, or rather something that would be better described as a sea of trees. The sun was showing its face above it. Looking to the left, something like city walls could be seen in the distance. It was a peaceful scenery like a postcard from a foreign country.
“Where is this place?”
He, Tatsuki Tenma, was bewildered. It felt too real to be a “dream.” But he had no memory of being in such a place. He tried pinching his cheek. The pain told him that this situation was reality.
“Why has this happened?”
He desperately searched through his memories.
He remembered his name, age, hobbies, high school graduation ceremony, and getting a job at a company. However, he couldn’t recall his parents, school friends, a lover who might have existed, which high school he graduated from, or which company he was employed at. Naturally, he had no idea why he was here either.
Tatsuki Tenma was innately composed. That’s why he could analyze the situation calmly.
First, he checked his head with his hands to confirm there was no external injury related to his memory loss. Next, he looked at his clothes. Underwear with a white shirt, jeans below. Sneakers on his feet. A black half-length coat. All of them were things he had owned. Except they all looked brand new.
“Well, I don’t know where I am, and I have no memory of coming here. I don’t remember changing clothes either. I don’t know the reason for my memory loss. Perhaps this is one of those popular light novels or anime isekai worlds? In my case, it would be a transfer, right? But there wasn’t anything like a tutorial. Usually, a god appears or there’s a summoning magic circle, right? I’m all alone though.”
Tenma looked around again. There was no magic circle, and no god appeared.
“For now, status, status-open.”
“Oh! Something appeared! So it really is an isekai world.”
With excitement, Tenma looked at the semi-transparent window.
