Chapter 244
“Lady Arina?”
Princess Arina of the Troy Principality was waiting for Zeke at the mansion in his territory.
He approached Arina in surprise.
“What brings you here, Lady Arina?”
Arina smiled and said to Zeke.
“I wanted to see Sir Zeke’s face, and I also have a favor to ask, so I came for both reasons.”
“A favor?”
Arina smoothly brought forward someone who had been standing beside her to face Zeke.
When they removed the hood that had been completely covering their face, a boy’s face appeared.
Zeke was shocked to see the boy’s face.
“That guy?”
It was Zion, a member of the Six, an elite bloodline ability user of the Nostra Family whom he had captured and entrusted to Arina.
Zion looked at Zeke with an expression full of discontent and said to Arina.
“Lady Arina! Do you know how much pain that guy caused me last time? He paralyzed me and then kept zapping me with electricity!”
Arina responded with a stern expression.
“Hey! Zion! I told you, didn’t I? Always maintain proper manners.”
Zion’s expression immediately deflated and he nodded.
“I-I’m sorry, Lady Arina.”
Zeke was bewildered seeing Zion’s behavior.
‘Could it be, Lady Arina, that you’ve tamed that mafia guy?’
The Zion he remembered was someone who recklessly wreaked havoc on battlefields using his bloodline ability.
While he appeared to be an ordinary boy on the outside, he was actually a combat operative of the mafia who showed no mercy or compassion.
Zeke couldn’t help but feel perplexed seeing such a Zion now sticking close to Arina like a docile puppy.
At that moment, another figure behind Arina also removed their hood and revealed their face. Zeke was surprised once again.
“That Knight Killer from back then?”
It was Aaron, the Knight Killer who had been captured by Zeke at the Ghost Mansion.
Aaron also spoke to Arina while eyeing Zeke with suspicion.
“Lady Arina, Drakers are the most untrustworthy beings in the world. With the face of a knight, who knows when and where they’ll commit vile acts…”
WOONG! WOONG!
Suddenly, white lights began floating around Arina’s body.
While it looked very beautiful on the surface, Zion and Aaron’s faces turned pale the moment they saw it.
As Arina made the lights float while staring intently at them, both men became flustered and didn’t know what to do.
Zeke watched the three of them with an interested expression.
‘I felt this with Dario too, but Lady Arina certainly has a knack for handling people.’
When Zion and Aaron quieted down, Arina gathered the lights back.
Then she smiled again and said to Zeke.
“Actually, these two people need your treatment, Lord Zeke.”
“My treatment… you mean Recovery?”
Arina had engraved ‘Recovery’, one of the light magic healing spells, onto the jeweled sword Roland that Zeke had entrusted to her.
Thanks to receiving Roland engraved with Recovery through Clonne, they were able to restore the brainwashed fishermen back to normal.
Arina nodded.
“That’s right. As mentioned before, Zion’s physical condition continues to worsen, and Aaron also has a seal placed inside his body.”
“A seal?”
“I’ve sealed it with magic for now, but if left alone, Aaron’s head would have exploded and killed him.”
Arina said such horrible things so casually.
Zeke immediately understood what Arina meant, as he had seen many members of the Abyss die due to seals.
After hearing Arina’s words, Zeke turned his gaze toward Zion and Aaron.
While keeping an eye on Arina, Zion growled at Zeke like a fierce dog, and Aaron also maintained his suspicious gaze.
Zeke looked at the two with an unsatisfied expression before nodding.
“I understand. I’ll need to examine their condition first.”
Zeke took Zion and Aaron to his private training room with Arina.
Arina made the two sit on the training room floor as if taming unruly strays.
Zeke opened his Blood Eye to examine Zion and Aaron’s physical conditions.
With his Blood Eye activated, he could see things that weren’t visible before.
‘Zion’s body is completely saturated with drugs. Even with Recovery treatment, he’ll need continuous drug therapy.’
Zeke turned his gaze to examine Aaron’s body and was shocked.
This was because there was a parasite attached to Aaron’s brain, writhing around.
This must be the seal that Arina had mentioned.
‘Those crazy Jiemens not only brainwashed them but also implanted parasites?’
Now he finally understood clearly why Knight Killers couldn’t be captured alive in his previous life, and why they would commit suicide even if captured.
After contemplating for a while, Zeke closed his Blood Eye and spoke to Arina.
“Neither situation is easy.”
“There’s no one else on the continent who could treat these two except you.”
After thinking it over, Zeke nodded.
“Very well. I’ll proceed with the treatment right away. Lady Arina, please step outside for a moment.”
He sent Arina outside and closed the training room door.
Outside the training room, Arina clasped her hands together reverently and prayed to the Creator God who brought the Primordial Light.
Shortly after, light flashed from inside the training room.
“AAAARGHHHH!”
Light kept flashing and screams that sounded like being tortured by hell’s warden came from inside the training room.
Although the sounds suggested they were experiencing terrible pain, Arina smiled with relief upon hearing them.
‘Thank goodness. The treatment is going well.’
Several hours later, the screaming subsided and finally the training room door opened.
Zeke poked his head through the door and said.
“It’s done.”
Arina entered the training room to check inside. Zion and Aaron were collapsed on the training room floor with deathly pale faces as if they had died and come back to life.
After placing her hands on their bodies to feel their energy, she looked at Zeke with a shocked expression.
“My goodness, Sir Zeke. How did you treat them in such a short time? This is truly a miracle!”
“It’s thanks to the Recovery you engraved, Lady Arina.”
Although Zion and Aaron endured hours of pain they never wanted to experience again, ultimately their lives were saved.
After Arina finished checking them, Zeke had them taken to rooms to recover and joined Arina for tea in the reception room.
Zeke asked her.
“Lady Arina, how exactly did you tame those guys?”
Arina shook her head.
“Lord Zeke. The word ‘tame’ isn’t suitable for people. I simply embraced Zion and Aaron’s hearts.”
Seeing how they trembled, it seemed like she did more than just embrace their hearts, but Zeke let it pass.
“Actually, I brought them here to interrogate them.”
“Then you’ve achieved your goal. Since Zion and Aaron have become members of the Rose Knights, they’ll gladly help you.”
Looking at Arina’s bright smile, Zeke pressed his temples.
“Lady Arina, those two are very dangerous individuals. We don’t know when they might betray us.”
“The Primordial Light illuminates everything in the physical world and brings peace. That’s why Light believers always teach each other to love everyone.”
Listening to Arina’s words, Zeke thought of Clonne swinging her shining mace.
‘…Is that love?’
At that moment, Arina’s eyes sharpened.
“However, don’t think that the Primordial Light is always just benevolent. According to scripture, it was the Primordial Light that destroyed the City of Corruption in seven days.”
She smiled at Zeke and said.
“If the two of them ever betray us, they’ll pay the appropriate price, so don’t worry.”
Zeke felt the pressure emanating from Princess Arina.
‘…Somehow I think Arina is scarier than the Nostra Family or Jiemens.’
Anyway, since Princess Arina had accepted them as her knights, Zeke couldn’t say anything more.
Zeke nodded and said.
“If you’ve decided so, Lady Arina, I won’t say more. Aaron will be able to move like before once he recovers, but Zion’s situation is different.”
He continued slowly.
“He’ll need to take medicine consistently, and he probably won’t be able to use his bloodline ability as much as before. Please warn him that if he tries to force his ability, it could break the body balance we’ve just fixed.”
“I understand. Thank you, Sir Zeke. If you need anything, please let me know anytime.”
As Zeke was about to finish the conversation, he remembered something from Arina’s words.
“Come to think of it, there is something I’d like to ask of you, Lady Arina.”
“What is it?”
“Could you lead the Rose Knights to an island in the South Sea?”
Zeke explained about Peter Pan and the Fishermen, starting with his plans to develop the southern island he received from Kali.
“I plan to develop the southern island into a trading hub connecting the Central and Southern continents.”
After hearing everything from Zeke, Arina was surprised.
“While I’m not very familiar with the South Sea situation… I thought the Death Waters where the southern islands are located were too rough for merchant ships to pass through. Is that not the case?”
Zeke nodded and answered.
“What you say is correct, Lady Arina. That was true until now, but not anymore. The Death Waters have stabilized, and a closer sea route to the Southern Continent has opened up.”
“Really? How is that possible…”
“While I can’t explain the details, there will be big changes in the South Sea and Southern Continent.”
Arina nodded at Zeke’s words.
“If Sir Zeke says so, I’ll believe it. I’ll send the Rose Knights to help the merfolk.”
“Thank you so much for readily offering your help, Lady Arina.”
“Don’t mention it. It’s about saving a persecuted race and pioneering unknown territory.”
Zeke nodded and said.
“Good. Since it’s still unexplored territory, all sorts of magical beasts will be occupying the area. Feel free to make full use of Rick’s group of former adventurers as well.”
“That’s wonderful news. Understood.”
Zeke said he would share the details separately and concluded their discussion.
Arina headed off to check on Zion and Aaron’s condition again, while Zeke went up to his room to prepare for his next task.
Zeke’s remaining task was to stand in front of a mirror with a storybook and call the Hermit of Stories.
“Is this how it’s done?”
Zeke stood awkwardly and spoke to the mirror.
“Um… this is Zeke Draker. Mr. Hermit.”
He waited a moment hopefully, but there was no response.
Embarrassed, Zeke tossed the storybook aside and sat in a plush chair.
As he grumbled while looking at the fallen book nearby, Zeke realized that the storybook he had picked up by chance was none other than one about the Hero King Kaisir.
The story of Hero King Kaisir and the loyal Clock Tower Knight was one of the most popular storybook subjects.
‘Hero King Kaisir. Homunculus.’
Zeke recalled what the Dark Elf Captain had said in the Inverted Tower before.
[Kaisir, how can you say that cursed war machine is the Hero King?]
He couldn’t understand what that meant at the time.
But after hearing Poseidon’s words, he finally understood what it meant.
The real Hero King Kaisir had departed for the Fairy Realm, and the Great Sage worked with the Divine Dragons to create a ‘homunculus’ modeled after the Hero King to fill his absence.
To stop the Demon King who had descended into Jiemens Apollion’s body.
‘A golem containing the Hero King’s power. I can’t even imagine it.’
Hero Tyr said that even dragons trembled at the Hero King’s power.
Though it wasn’t his true divine power, the fact that the homunculus containing some of his power was defeated by the Demon King showed just how tremendous the Demon King’s power was.
‘What would happen if the real Demon King were to be resurrected in this era?’
It felt unreal to think that the Demon King, a being that only existed in storybooks, could suddenly pop into reality.
That’s when…
“Did you call me?”
Zeke looked up at the familiar voice. The Hermit Stories stood before him with a tired face.
