Chapter 5.Â
Just a few minutes after Molanna left the alley, another figure quietly slipped into this narrow lane.
This was a young girl who, compared to Kleya’s tall stature and Molanna’s fullness, could be described as ‘frail.’
She wore an old black cloak, her somewhat overly pale palms wrapped in bandages, and her bloodless cheeks still bore several bruises.
Most peculiar of all, under her cloak’s hood was pressed a pair of fluffy orange fox ears.
Clearly, this was a beastman.
Beastmen are a type of demi-human whose body structure doesn’t differ much from humans, except they possess some animal characteristics, like beast ears and tails.
The girl’s name was Triss, currently unemployed as her main occupation, with street fortune-telling as her side business.
Actually, street fortune-telling used to be her main job, but because business was so dismal, she had to run around taking temporary work in various places to make ends meet.
Just yesterday, while working as a temporary cleaner at Haila Opera House, she found a comb in the dressing room.Â
After doing a divination, she discovered that the comb was actually made from tree spirit wood!Â
She immediately went to find a potion shop and sold the thing. She made a nice little profit.
Then, just as she was about to use that money to buy some bread, she accidentally fell while buying bread, tumbling into the cake display shelf and knocking the entire rack over.
This was terrible – she didn’t know whose cake she had ruined, but the money she had wasn’t enough to pay for the damages.Â
She got beaten up and was left with nothing. She didn’t know whose big hands, small hands, or whatever hands had set this trap, but capital, you won.
Losing the money she had just gained left Triss extremely indignant, so she immediately did another divination for herself, wanting to find more “treasures left by predecessors.”
And so, she came to this place.
“The location the divination gave should be right here…”
She hunched over, looking around cautiously, and only slowly entered the alley after confirming no one else was around.
The area around Haila Opera House was frequently cleaned, so even corner alleys like this weren’t too dirty. They were just rather dark and damp.
After scanning with her eyes for a while, Triss finally discovered a piece of burlap hidden in the corner.
“Is this it?”
She carefully and slowly lifted the burlap, and a pile of clothing gradually appeared underneath.
“Huh?”
Triss was stunned, then crouched in front of those clothes and began rummaging through them.
A gray robe, a vest and skirt set, a pair of long boots, and even…
Triss held up the pink underwear and a pair of black over-the-knee stockings, suddenly becoming flustered.
This set of clothes clearly belonged to a girl around her own age. Though simple-looking, they were quite clean and definitely couldn’t have been discarded here long ago.
Could it be… she had encountered some murder case, and this was the scene where evidence was being destroyed?!
Or perhaps there was a perverted exhibitionist nearby who secretly stripped off their clothes in the alley before streaking in broad daylight?!
A series of thoughts churned in Triss’s mind. Though she felt both shocked and frightened, her hands didn’t stop rummaging.
No matter why these clothes were left here, she had to find something useful from them!
Triss gritted her teeth, her blind sister’s image appearing in her mind.
If she couldn’t get money for bread today, her sister would go hungry.
She absolutely couldn’t let that happen!
“Huh, this is…”
After rummaging around, Triss pulled out a small cloth pouch from one of the robe’s pockets.
This pouch was only fist-sized, with its opening tightly bound by some kind of processed animal sinew.
The moment she saw this pouch, Triss’s heart trembled, and she immediately opened the small pouch with somewhat shaking hands.
Instantly, a rich magical aura surged out from within. Looking at what was inside, Triss’s eyes immediately lit up with joy.
Magical materials!
A whole bag of them!
This bag of magical materials could probably provide food for her and her sister for half a month if sold.
She happily tucked the bag away and was about to leave when she turned her gaze back to the clothes on the ground.
Leaving them behind… seemed like a waste?
“Since I’ve already taken something… might as well take everything at once. Though they’re used clothes, I could still turn them into fabric for other things…”
…
Let us return our perspective to Molanna.
Since the performance wouldn’t start for more than ten minutes, she encountered no obstacles entering the opera house.
After following the path guided by her marking magic for a while, Molanna discovered that the two hadn’t gone to the regular audience seating, but instead to…
A VIP box?!
The second floor of Haila Opera House had VIP boxes that not only provided special service but also offered better views.
“I knew that woman was willing to spend money, but I didn’t expect her to be this generous! How vicious!”
Besides better service and viewing experience, VIP boxes had another advantage.
That was—
Private space!
A man and woman alone together in a room, with opera for ambiance – if the two got in the mood, she didn’t dare imagine what might happen!
…
On Reyno’s side, Kleya expertly led him through the opera house to find the VIP box on the second floor, then smugly waved for Reyno to come in.
The box interior was well-lit, with a chandelier made from magical crystals containing light magic hanging from the ceiling.Â
Two leather-cushioned wooden chairs were placed by the viewing window, about a meter away from the nearly transparent glass panel.
Between the two chairs was a small round table covered with an elegant white tablecloth.
“I knew it was a VIP ticket, but I didn’t expect you to get a whole box. Very impressive, that’s so like you.”Â
Reyno looked at the box’s exquisite décor and couldn’t help but compliment Kleya.
“Hmph, I do have some connections after all.” Kleya showed no hint of modesty, crossing her arms over her slightly protruding chest and proudly lifting her head.
She adjusted her skirt hem, then elegantly sat down in one of the seats, revealing more of her fair, long legs.
Unlike Molanna’s voluptuous legs, Kleya’s appeared slender and graceful, giving off a cool, noble feeling.
“What are you standing there for? Sit down.”Â
Kleya looked at Reyno, then patted the armrest of her chair, indicating for him to sit.
Reyno smiled and nodded, then sat down in the chair.
Just then, the box door creaked open.
Reyno and Kleya both turned to look, seeing a server carrying a fruit plate and drinks enter, placing them on the round table between them. After greeting them, the server left the box and closed the door.
Reyno casually picked up a piece of fruit with a fork and began chatting pleasantly with Kleya, unaware that Molanna had just slipped in during the brief moment when the server opened the door.
“Good thing the server helped create an opening, otherwise opening the door rashly in my current state would definitely have attracted attention.”
Molanna’s heart was beating extremely fast while invisible. Lurking near her master while invisible gave her an incredibly thrilling experience.
Moreover, she was currently completely naked.
Looking at Kleya beside Reyno, she couldn’t help but feel a sour anger rising in her heart.
Ever since childhood, it had been like this – occasionally asking her master out to play, sometimes suddenly barging into the house when she and her master were alone together, ruining her happy moments. She would also give her master various things from time to time.
Anyone with eyes could see what her attitude toward Reyno was, yet this girl always said things like
“I didn’t originally plan to give this to you,”Â
“I needed someone to help carry things so I called you to come along,”Â
“I was passing by so I came to check on you,” and so on.
Who was she putting on this act for?! So annoying!
She had thought that leaving their hometown for Haila Royal City would let her have her master all to herself, but this girl had followed them here too. Like a persistent ghost!
“What does she have that I don’t?! Is she prettier than me?!”
Thinking this, Molanna turned her gaze to Kleya’s face and body.
She really was.
Kleya’s features were extremely delicate and beautiful, her skin quite fair with almost no flaws, meticulously cared for. Even without any makeup, her natural face was outstanding – the type that would be extremely eye-catching walking down the street.
Her figure was also quite shapely, both slender and tall. Her bearing and behavior exuded that elegant air of a noble young lady everywhere.
Looking at herself in comparison, although Molanna’s appearance wasn’t bad either – she could even be called quite cute – long-term irregular sleep schedules had given her dark circles under her eyes early on.
And her long-term shut-in lifestyle had given her nothing but a gloomy aura.
As for clothing and grooming… it was too painful to look at.
If she had to say something, Molanna’s talent in alchemy was stronger than Kleya’s.
Because Kleya didn’t know alchemy.
The magical materials and potions in her shop were basically purchased and resold for profit.Â
Even the potions Molanna brewed were sometimes sent to Kleya’s place.
“At least… my size is better than hers!”
This was true.
Thinking of this, Molanna proudly puffed out her currently invisible chest.
While Reyno was still chatting pleasantly with Kleya about life in the royal city, the audience seats below had gradually filled with people.
Suddenly, the system’s voice rang in Reyno’s head once again:
“Holy Knight Molanna, being overly worried about your safety, has chased you all the way from the camp. No matter what, Holy Knights and Demon Kings are mortal enemies. Once the Hero is captured by the Demon King’s schemes, the entire front against the Demon King will collapse!”
Reyno was startled: ‘That girl Molanna actually followed me here?’
He wasn’t particularly surprised – this was indeed something she would do. Since he had brought her back, this girl had never been well-behaved.
“But she doesn’t have money for tickets either. I didn’t see her when I came in just now, so she was probably stopped at the entrance. I hope nothing bad happens.”
While Reyno was lost in thought, the light at the viewing window suddenly dimmed.
Although the Haila Continent hadn’t yet developed electric lights, they could already control the switching of lights by manipulating light magic.
As the lights suddenly went out, a narrator’s voice began to clearly reach the ears of everyone below.
“Our family has fallen…”
“Oh, it’s starting, it’s starting!”
Kleya excitedly called out twice, and Reyno immediately turned his attention to the stage.
And at this moment, Molanna suddenly had a bold idea.
The corner of her mouth curved into an evil smile. She held her breath, carefully and quietly moved her transparent body a few steps—
Standing right in front of Reyno’s line of sight.
